People have blocked out the early-90's superhero glut caused by the 89 Batman movie. We now just expect superhero movies to be good.
(Why they didn't adapt Emerald Dawn is beyond me.)

He wants t re-enact the GLC issue where Kilowog creates lantern-ghosts of all his dead relatives.
...I think that happened, didn't it?

That's been the way the story's gone since the miniseries "Emerald Dawn" in the late '80s though. Instead of being born without fear, the requirement is now that a Green Lantern must be able to "overcome great fear".

Let's face it, though. The established Hulk/Bruce Banner isn't really all that likable a character. He's a superhero who's trying to cure himself of being a superhero. That's why people liked the Avengers version best. They based him on the David Banner character from the '70s TV show. In that show, Banner was always trying to help someone else despite his Hulk problem. Prior to that, Banner only seemed interested in helping himself. I know it may take away from the "inherent tragedy" of the character, but there's only so much tragedy a superhero character can have before people just want them to act like an honest-to-goodness hero.

Better than the first Hulk, the second Ghost Rider and I liked it better than Thor (but then, I've never really liked Thor in general). I think people are forgetting just how bad superhero movies can be. I mean, hasn't anyone else watched Steel lately? I might be biased, though. You see, I tend to like DC's solo characters more than Marvel's, so I was glad to see a decent DC superhero movie starring someone who wasn't Superman or Batman.
