Damn you Willis!
Now I’ll have to have my memory erased again!
Between that video, The New 52 and Joel Schumacher, the portion of my brain that regulates love for Batman-related things is eventually gonna get burnt out permanently!
Prolly. I’m only saying DVD though, because to my recollection we only got the VHS version (Don’t think we got a DVD player till a year later), and I don’t remember if that had the video after the credits, like they did with most stuff at the time before DVDs became the big thing.
OR we did have the DVD and I just never bothered watching it. :/ Either or.
I shudder to think of how long that list has gotten. There’s only been one good thing to “thank” them for:
An amusingly-named “card” in Chaos Magic. “Escape from AOL.”
Well, what is it? I would like to click the link but my instinct told me not to. That and I once clicked a link in the High Octane Nightmare Fuel once.
It’s not a metal song at all, it’s more like bad industrial dance club music. If it were metal, the guitar would be all through the song instead of just popping in every now and then and playing the same lame pseudo-riff every time it showed up.
As for what it is specifically, it’s a music video for the song that’s playing in the background for the first part of the scene in the dance club (before it cuts to Joker breaking into the Batcave). It’s also playing in the background on the main menu on the DVD version.
By “theatrical cut” I am guessing you mean the first-released neutered version, since BB:ROTJ never went to theatres. But, yes, the blu-ray is the later, more violent version as was originally intended.
I tried clicking on the link, but youtube wasn’t loading very quickly. I got to about the first 15 seconds. That first “AAAAAAAAAH” will be stuck in my head all night.
I completely forgot about that video, and forgot how awesome it is. But now I need to see that movie. Someone send it to me! The nearest movie store is a fucking C-130 ride away!
…Sorry, was that video supposed to be creepy or scary? The movie was definitely both, in parts (the brainwashing flashback…brrrrrr). This video? Eh, don’t see the big deal.
The video…well, the best I can say is despite it being used in the comic, when he came out of the shadows and did his scream, it was pretty funny. Too bad the rest didn’t have quite the same level of ridiculous. (Although I did giggle at his hair every time he was on screen.)
I also find the one bald guy having a good time consistently hilarious. Everyone else is freaking out like they’re having a bad trip. But Bald Guy is having a GREAT TIME. He’s just so happy.
Sorta like that “The Touch” video they had with Mike Shinoda in it, where only the guitarist was smiling, but Stan Bush and Mike Shinoda were scowling all the time.
Er… having watched the video, I can now honestly say “What the hell was that?!” And second-most in my mind, having owned it on DVD for a couple of years now “What’s it got to do with Batman Beyond, exactly?”
Oy…. never saw the video, but based on that one shot of the guy with the Bat Hair, I just KNEW it was Wayne Static + Static X. Not a horrible song…. but I was never a huge fan of Static X.
Ok, looks like I am a minority here, but I actually like the video as a kid, and still enjoy it today, despite it’s ridiculousness. I love the song as well
I realize there are more appropriate places for actual Batman news, but, does anyone know if this Blu-Ray will be the uncut version, or the edited one?
Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker: The Beginning Of Animated DC Shitting On Tim Drake Forever was the only thing the Timm/Murakami juggernaut of awesomeness ever made that I outright hated, but how the hell have I never heard of this magnificent train wreck of a music video? It’s like a parody of crap novelty music tie-ins.
Not to mention that until he gets beaten nearly to death with a crowbar and exploded by fan vote, he has quite a way to go until he’s considered shit upon by Robin standards.
I’m niether here nor there as far as the song’s concerned, but due to the connection to Batman Beyond, I’m slamming the pressing the ‘like’ button as if I’m some kind of trained chimp in a stimuli response experiment.
Press ‘like’ for peanuts!
Press ‘like’ for peanuts!!!
So, I’m posting just to note that, even though I’ve never seen the movie in question, or the music video, or indeed even heard the song, I immediately knew the comic was referencing Wayne Static? Dat Hair!
When you see some of the things that actually happen to some of the characters, and realize that Batman Beyond is official DCaU continuity, you really start to look at the earlier shows a little differently. Like any time Superman seems to be acting a little… odd… in any of the later episodes of Justice League, you just have to wonder…
I agree with Willis: she *is* currently holding the blu-ray case. Just remember that, although Robin has super speed, she *can* be a bit “slow” at times. =P Maybe she (along with a few other commentors) only now noticed the fact the movie’s on such a format…
Am I missing the joke about the title of this particular comic? “SHE A NO ONE”? I mean… huh? Are ya just doing a play on “misheard lyrics” or something else, Willis? Cuz… I am lost. 0_o’
Robin: Maker of Bad Decisions
I love the movie, but I watched that music video once.
Coincidentally, that was shortly before I lost a few teeth and injured my eye.
Wow, either that is one horrifying video or you should consider backing off of the headbanging.
that or it had so much sheer awesomeness it was like a kick to the face.
either way, i’m scared to try it…
Hey, I said “coincidentally!”
There’s nothing wrong with the tune per say… it’s just got a lot of… well… AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Beyond the good taste barrier?
Damn you Willis!
Now I’ll have to have my memory erased again!
Between that video, The New 52 and Joel Schumacher, the portion of my brain that regulates love for Batman-related things is eventually gonna get burnt out permanently!
Poor Damian, the New 52 have not been kind to you.
WHAT? THERE’S A MUSIC VIDEO?
Ah yeah, there was a music video, wasn’t there?
Wasn’t it only available on the DVD, though? And never popped up, like, anywhere else ever?
Certainly wasn’t on my VHS copy…
I can confirm that it is on the blu-ray.
Well, I figure it is, what with the comic.
I guess I should add, “at the time it was first released, and such”.
All I can say is that it was on both versions of the DVD, neutered and unneutered.
And it may have played a whole bunch on the video wall of the Warner Bros Studio Store where I worked at the time.
I miss the Warner Brothers studio stores
Their absence is just one more thing to blame AOL for.
I shudder to think of how long that list has gotten. There’s only been one good thing to “thank” them for:
An amusingly-named “card” in Chaos Magic. “Escape from AOL.”
Actually, looking over my last print-out of Chaos Magic rules, I got that wrong. It’s really “Escape from AOHell.”
I blame AOL for the death of USENET.
Love that movie. Can’t say I’d ever heard of the music video until now.
Clicked the link. Ignorance was bliss.
Well, what is it? I would like to click the link but my instinct told me not to. That and I once clicked a link in the High Octane Nightmare Fuel once.
Just stare at the fourth panel for three minutes. That sums it up pretty well.
I don’t even hate the song, but seeing a guy with that hair made a little part of me die inside.
Eh. It’s a bad metal song with a cheesy music video. Nothing worth talking about…
Honestly I don’t even think i’d call it a BAD metal song. Just not a good one.
God I wish my hair could do that.
Love the movie, love that music video.
Gotta love Mephisto Odyssey and Static X.
Hell, the entire soundtrack for that movie was amazing.
Will the blu-ray be the directors cut or the theatrical cut?
By “theatrical cut” I am guessing you mean the first-released neutered version, since BB:ROTJ never went to theatres. But, yes, the blu-ray is the later, more violent version as was originally intended.
I kinda wish it had both.
Funny thing: I have never seen the edited version.
Me too. I like the way the joker kills the mook in the original cut better.
It’s ALREADY out on blu-ray.
It’s been out since April of last year.
I tried clicking on the link, but youtube wasn’t loading very quickly. I got to about the first 15 seconds. That first “AAAAAAAAAH” will be stuck in my head all night.
I…I like that song. I’ve found it to be therapeutic.
Can’t say anything for the video…
I completely forgot about that video, and forgot how awesome it is. But now I need to see that movie. Someone send it to me! The nearest movie store is a fucking C-130 ride away!
…Sorry, was that video supposed to be creepy or scary? The movie was definitely both, in parts (the brainwashing flashback…brrrrrr). This video? Eh, don’t see the big deal.
Good song, though.
Yeah, song’s not half bad…
The video…well, the best I can say is despite it being used in the comic, when he came out of the shadows and did his scream, it was pretty funny. Too bad the rest didn’t have quite the same level of ridiculous. (Although I did giggle at his hair every time he was on screen.)
I also find the one bald guy having a good time consistently hilarious. Everyone else is freaking out like they’re having a bad trip. But Bald Guy is having a GREAT TIME. He’s just so happy.
Indeed, his mirth is positively Holgerian.
Sorta like that “The Touch” video they had with Mike Shinoda in it, where only the guitarist was smiling, but Stan Bush and Mike Shinoda were scowling all the time.
I love Holger Fath.
AAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!! D:
What the hell did you just make me watch the first twenty seconds of?
A dude with Bat-hair, wearing a Bat-dress, screaming.
He’s kind of the black sheep of Batman Inc.
Er… having watched the video, I can now honestly say “What the hell was that?!” And second-most in my mind, having owned it on DVD for a couple of years now “What’s it got to do with Batman Beyond, exactly?”
I’m glad that this mystery was eventually “esplained ” to me.
KILL IT! KILL IT WITH A FREEZE GUN!
Oy…. never saw the video, but based on that one shot of the guy with the Bat Hair, I just KNEW it was Wayne Static + Static X. Not a horrible song…. but I was never a huge fan of Static X.
Actually no Static X, it’s Wayne Static and Mephisto Odysssey. And I… kinda like it. Which made this strip all the more funny.
I then proceeded to check for other comics tagged “bat hair” and “bat dress”. Needless to say, I was profoundly disappointed.
Young Justice had Bat Hair. I think it was during the crossover with PAD’s Supergirl.
Ok, looks like I am a minority here, but I actually like the video as a kid, and still enjoy it today, despite it’s ridiculousness. I love the song as well
We liked a lot of crappy things as children.
I realize there are more appropriate places for actual Batman news, but, does anyone know if this Blu-Ray will be the uncut version, or the edited one?
Still like Batman Beyond and Static-X. He was a crazy-looking motherfucker!
You think making Tim bisexual counts as Shitting On Him Forever?
I feel like Tim Drake has had it pretty good. I mean, he’s no Stephanie.
Not to mention that until he gets beaten nearly to death with a crowbar and exploded by fan vote, he has quite a way to go until he’s considered shit upon by Robin standards.
I thought she was talking about the NES game
That would have to have been one hell of a HD mode.
“Wow, each pixel is made up of 1080 smaller pixels!”
I’m sorry, but that has nothing on prince’s batdance from the first movie.
get the funk up! … batmaaaaan
I just never thought we would be shown that Prince’s Batdance was the best Batman related Music Video ever made.
Ah, Wayne Static, single-handedly keeping the hair gel industry afloat since 1994.
You mean it doesn’t do that by itself?
Awww….
With that name, I figured electrical aid…
I’ll think I’ll stick with the classics
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exhNT2_bHs8
touche!
Reciting the multiplication tables backwards?? But, but, but where do you start?
Nice, think he will do a Gotham City Imposters comic. Everything from the premise to the battles could be worth a laugh.
Confused nao. Why does the singer look like Marvel’s Canadian Adamantium Hobo? Wolfman or whatever his name was?
Also? It’s a bit sad that the Batman Beyond intro is a much catchier song …
…Dang it now I want to watch Return of The Joker but I don’t know where my Tape got off to.
I need to get the DVD I love the movie but I prefer the Uncut version.
I’ve got four words for this:
FUCK YEAH WAYNE STATIC!
Word, Homie. \m/
Hey, it’s not every continuity that you get to see Emma Frost chilling in the batcave. Appreciate it while you’ve got it.
Robin’s graying too. 0:
WAIT! WHAT’S THIS ABOUT A MUSIC VIDEO!?
…
April Moon.
Dammit, that was my mouse hand you just broke!
So, I’m posting just to note that, even though I’ve never seen the movie in question, or the music video, or indeed even heard the song, I immediately knew the comic was referencing Wayne Static? Dat Hair!
Well done Willis.
Batman Beyond is the best example of a reboot I can think of. I just love that show to pieces and I hated the idea when I first heard about it.
Except Batman Beyond isn’t a reboot.
THE NITPICKER STRIKES AGAIN.
*scamper*
He’s right, it’s not a reboot. If anything, it’s a sequel since it continues the story.
When you see some of the things that actually happen to some of the characters, and realize that Batman Beyond is official DCaU continuity, you really start to look at the earlier shows a little differently. Like any time Superman seems to be acting a little… odd… in any of the later episodes of Justice League, you just have to wonder…
The song/video is like everything there was to mid-late 90s music.
And I mean that in the best way possible, I now love this song/video.
I had been ignorant of that song/video before today.
DAMN YOU WILLIS!!!!!!
Exactly: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH
Static-X looks like a weirdo, darkish rave-y version of Sugar Ray.
Wayne Static.
His name is Wayne Static. The band is called Static-X.
That’s like calling John McClain “Diehard”.
Huh? This came out on Blu-ray in April 2011 and the music video is in 480p. This comic is unrealistic schwarbage.
Yeah I was wondering why the comic was talking about the blu-ray as if it hasn’t come out yet.
What? She is holding the blu-ray case in her hands.
I agree with Willis: she *is* currently holding the blu-ray case. Just remember that, although Robin has super speed, she *can* be a bit “slow” at times. =P Maybe she (along with a few other commentors) only now noticed the fact the movie’s on such a format…
Yeah, but she’s acting like it JUST came out, is all.
No new comic for thursday? :O
There was no new comic for Tuesday either. It’s a non storyline week. MWF schedule.
Am I missing the joke about the title of this particular comic? “SHE A NO ONE”? I mean… huh? Are ya just doing a play on “misheard lyrics” or something else, Willis? Cuz… I am lost. 0_o’
- a_o_t_8.
Yeah.
I like the bat-helm shaped scalp hair, with the face hair designed to complete the appearance of the Batman costume. Kind of humorous!
