Honestly I thought this plot hole/point would be resolved by now. I hope that it gets resolved soon, especially since Robin was there when Rachel and Joe hooked up.
And she wasn’t just watching. She helped make that relationship happen, at the expense of her own desires. She had an emotional stake in it. I think the odds favor us hearing something about it before she leaves Joe’s building.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure even JOE wouldn’t have congratulated Robin on the sex video if he already knew the implications it had for her life. He might be thinking now, “Hurt ‘Leslie?’ Leslie, okay, she’s clearly talking about the person she cheated on. Is that a girl’s name or a guy’s name? There was that hot shorthair blonde at the Walky wedding who seemed immune to my signals… Eh, not important.”
I came across shortpacked a long while ago on a recommendation from a friend. I wasn’t really aware of the Walkyverse until about half way throughish, but I chickened out when I saw that Roomies started in 1997. Today, I take the plunge. I’m going on a full on archive binge.
Tell me, will I be missing out if I don’t pay for Joyce and Walky? I’d like to help but, c’mon, I’m reading more than a decade’s worth of comics here.
Woooooo, finally caught up! Shortpacked, Roomies, It’s Walky, and the Walky and Joyce that was online. Just got like a week of Dumbing of Age to read and bam!
I don’t know. I still don’t feel the impact of what Robin did. Mostly because it was told second hand and very abridged. The giant break after the reveal didn’t help. She was high on C-Egg flakes and broke up with Leslie because she didn’t have her bucketlist finished even though most of it wasn’t completed except for the one thing possible to do. She then had teh sex and somehow posted a sex video on youtube, a place that doesn’t allow porn, and then … world peace?
I think it would be very difficult to tella more real-time version of that episode, and also keep Robin as sympathetic as she’s been. And the last couple of stories have really depended on getting readers to live in Robin’s head, rather than judge her by her actions. So it’s meant to be a little disorienting, finding out about all this after the fact, because that’s how it is for her.
(A more direct flashback to the relationship-ending argument might be an option, if and when it’s time to shift the sympathetic focus to Leslie– or to Roz, who may have overheard it.)
You can’t really get too detailed about legislation that’s created world peace unless you, yourself, know how to legislate world peace.
I’ll concede the YouTube complaint, but the story still basically works if the YouTube staff suppress the original video: people still make copies and post them elsewhere, the sex tape still becomes news, and Manley and Robin still look for the original on her YouTube account first.
David tends to treat all political matters and entertainment-industry giants as farce in Shortpacked anyway, even when they’re wedded to more serious plots.
That may have been the point. Since it only lasted two weeks and the horrid effects it had on Robin’s relationship, it’s probably meant to imply that it wasn’t worth it.
Don’t want in her pants. So, that’s… good?
For Joe, yes.
Yeesh, he never changes does he?
Well, at least he’s committed to his multiple cheerleaders.
No he’s committed to the IDEA of multiple cheerleaders. He doesn’t particularly care who’s in the lineup. Still, baby steps…
What ever happened to that girl he was dating at the end if It’s Walky?
I was just thinking this. I am quite curious.
…TO THE FORMSPRINGS!
Buy Joyce and Walky! There, all is revealed.
In one Universe Joe is (supposedly) not trying to get in someone’s pants, yet in annother he (alledgedly) got in someone’s pants.
Gotta love alternate timelines.
That and the pants in question are fraternal.
It should be noted that they’re fraternal to each other, not Joe. Because that would be wrong.
That didn’t sound like the kind of thing that needed to be clarified.
Better safe than sorry.
It’s easier to leave than to be left behind
Leaving was never my proud
Leaving Les Been–never easy
I saw the light fading out!–Apologies to R.E.M.
Oy vey, Mike, I guess some things never change. Crazy dude.
I swear your name gets longer every time I see it.
Haha, don’t worry, it’s the last time.
lol, you did what i did posting in DoA today, calling some other character Mike (it was actually Danny)
whoops! Don’t know why I did that. I think I saw the mistake, but couldn’t change it.
So, whatever happened to Rachel?
Exactly what I wanted to know…

JOYCE AND WALKY!
Haaaaa. THAT’S OUR JOE. =D
With his penis.
I should certainly hope so. Otherwise, we missed another Canada bit.
Cue the laugh track!
I hope Robin and Leslie can talk this through so they can come to the best possible outcome for them both.
Hopefully it’ll be on screen sexings.
can’t it be both?
Didn’t Robin and Leslie kinda break up before Robin went and youtube’d her herero “cheating” sex?
My guess is that Robin considers it cheating anyways, and Joe doesn’t know the details and is assuming what Robin says is correct.

Especially the new relationships-with-multiple-cheerleaders Joe! ; )
Okay, fuggit, I want to know what he and Rachel have been doing these days.
…I’m really getting the feeling they’re still together, for a certain value of “together”…
It is possible that he has turned her to the dark side. Perhaps they share the cheerleaders.
Maybe she is a cheerleader.
anyone else reminded of this strip since he doesn’t want her, still?

F*#$ the dog!
… And you’re not joshin’ us now?

My advice is to get through all that material, then make up your mind. You might feel that you HAVE to at the end of it. Or you might not.
i chose not to, though i do wonder if i would be happier knowing the true end of the series..
I want to know what Joe’s definition of a relationship is, if it can involve multiple partners.
A deep and meaningful connection… at the hips.
An “open relationship.”
Just saying.
Not even necessarily that. He could be poly-faithful. (Although the ‘sometimes’ suggests ‘open’ is more accurate.)

Oh Joe. How much you’ve grown…
you mean like this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GrowingTheBeard ?
I’d like to point out that Joe gives horrible advice. Look at Jacob, he spent time with Joe & he’s out of the strip.
What bad advice will he give Robin?
Ooh, that’s a great point! Jacob had to make him patch things up with Ultra Car, too.
Still, he is someone whose history means he will listen without judging, unlike Amber and Ethan, and that may be what she needs most right now.
