   I just don’t understand why Amber likes him, or why Mike hasn’t done something evil to end it. Surely he could come up with something to defuse the alcoholic sword of damocles she has in him, right?

     Dina did, practically, the same thing. In reality I don’t think he hates her, considering how broken up he was about Dina dying. I think it’s just his way. I have a friend who’s a lot like him. Comes across as if he hates the world but when his bird died he was crushed.

     Like that guy who got married and had a kid… then brutally murdered his own kid to get revenge on his wife for something she had said about his father a decade earlier.
     THAT is probably the sort of thing Mike is shooting for.
