They have some pretty awesome anthologies and trade paperbacks out…I imagine that unless you were a bubble that popped yesterday, you could still find them…as they still exist and whatnot. o.O;;
True it was a good concept in theory but then Dark reign came along and showed tony that Peter and other members of the Resistance were right about not wanting to give that information. Because it could and did fall into the wrong hands.
Wow, got here going through my fave Shortpacked strips and the comment thread for this looks so barren. Hmm, as a purely academic exercise, I wonder how many reblogs this will get (and how many wanks this will start) if you post it on tumblr today. :/ (By which I mean, DO IIIIIIIT, Mr. Willis! )
But Iron Man got his way and the Marvel U was changed forever. I think that means that the folks at marvel ultimately share Mr. Willis’ opinion. The government holds a monopoly on legitimized violence, supers would either be co-opted by the FBI or public enemy number 1. The quasi legal nature of their activities leaves too many questions unanswered.
Hey man, I’m a die hard liberal, and even I was on Iron Man’s side in the Civil War. Maybe, just maybe we wouldn’t have to send the Hulk into Space if we could get him some government sponsored anger management classes. All I’m saying.
Wait, hold up. Bunch patently false points. She-Hulk brought up a very good point in court against Tony, that being that Iron Man mentally invaded every single person on the entire planet to selflishly hide his own identity.
As to Spider-Man, he did own up to responsibility in the Civil War, when he tried to stop Gitmo in the Negative Zone.
The Hulk has never killed *Anyone* under his own power, and they’ve even gone over this point in comic. Any time that it HAS happened, has either been under direct mind control, or when the good guys decided it would be a really brilliant plans to separate the angry green rage monster from the only thing keeping him in control. So basically, EVERY super should be jettisoned off Earth by Tony’s logic.
As to destruction of *property*, again, that’s every superhero ever, on every side of the Civil War, *even* during and after it.
Now, Tony Stark as a villain turned the Green Goblin into a slave assassin, jailed heroes without due process while exploiting legal loopholes, started a war with atlantis by having their ambassador assassinated, and set up a perfect storm by having a list of every super’s identities, which the world’s supervillains came together to get from him. They even went into a What If comic where Tony gets shown by the Watcher that if he had simply asked Cap’s help, admitting that he didn’t know everything that was needed do things right, the whole thing would have resulted in a Golden Age of Heroes.
No mind control, he wasn’t a skrull, he was just Tony being horribly written. They were doing a lot of that at the time, just look at One More Day and Brand New Day.
YES.
THANK YOU.
This is my favourite comic of all time from anywhere ever.
It’s ok 2007 Ironman, in 2008 you get a movie and everybody will love you forever!!!!!
But in 2010, your sequel will be entirely about how huge an asshole you are.
But everyone will love you anyway. We love Mike, don’t we?
Hmmm, Mike as Iron Man. Best idea ever.
We’d have to call him Nickel Man, though.
You mean Nickel Woman. She’d be played by herself. (aka your mom)
Gotta admit, Downey made a great job with the character.
You also do pretty well in the Avengers film in 2012 Ironman. Hang in there.
And then the next sequel makes you look like a hero who will sacrifice himself at the drop of a hat! The best hero!
I’m sad that I have never gotten to read more Iron Man comics, because I think, from what I have read, that he would be my favorite super hero.

This is wonderful
True it was a good concept in theory but then Dark reign came along and showed tony that Peter and other members of the Resistance were right about not wanting to give that information. Because it could and did fall into the wrong hands.
None of the info fell into Osborn’s hands. Stark deleted every copy, even the one in his head.
Then again, Iron Man, you’re also a prima donna. But do keep kicking ass. It’s good for everyone.
