A failed stand-up comedian, Ethan had settled for working retail. Amazingly, retail has not broken him yet. He still has that shimmer of hope for the future and his fellow man. Whether this is due to the strength of his resolve or just plain old ordinary denial depends on your personal level of cynicism.
After settling in with his boyfriend, Manny, Ethan has left the toy store to pursue stand-up comedy once again.
Ethna reminds me of myself… except for the gay part, and switch “Stand-up comedian” with “Science Fiction Writer”.
So I’m a non-gay Ethan, who wants to be a science fiction writer, and works on a newspaper…
“. . .And has a vagina. And is black. And is married. And is 70 years-old. But aside from that, we’re identical!”
Switch the “works on a newspaper” out for “high school student, soon to be college student” and the”sci-fi writer” for “animator,” and you got me. A non-gay Ethan in high school, who wants to be an animator, and wears glasses.
I hate to ask, but what is your avatar from? It looks like something I’d like to see more of, and… yeah, any idea?

I’m like him in the “retail is slowly killing my soul and I’ve kinda resigned to that fact and decided to go along with the facade that what I do is important” area.
My favorite part of Ethan’s description is the bit where everyone uses it as an excuse to talk about themselves.
I’m interested to know the ages to these characters. I mean, Ethan is graying now and all. I’m just curious. Very very curious.
