Oh, and also probably because of baby. Money is hard for a a new parent anyone to turn down. Mike is going to be a house husband. I wonder if he’ll be a daytime drunk.
DC character from an alternate future who had super-speed and was the Flash for a while. I think he eventually ended up stranded on Earth Prime and learned he was a comic book character.
Been a while since I read that, though, might have the details wrong.
No, no, no… they are just moving next DOOR. She looks funny in the third panel because she had to sneeze… Mike is making it sound worse because ..’cause he’s not THAT drunk and wants them to be sad. The new pace is a nearby apartment complex named after some river in Egypt. Everything’s going to be fine. Right everyone? ..right?
Flipping back and forth between the first and last panels, and as far as I can tell, the only differences in the foreground are the angle of Ethan’s mouth triangle and the shading on Leslie’s hair.
Wonder if someone spiked Donna’s bottle, she looks happy. And if Amber going to take Con’s offer, they would move I guess. Looks like she’s going to do it. Aw.
I’m certainly surprised. I didn’t think Amber was going to take Conquest’s job offer since she had the wedding at Shortpacked and Galasso doesn’t take what he perceives as betrayal lightly. While I’m happy to see Amber and Mike fulfilling their dreams I hope they don’t leave the strip.
It’s void if she’s no longer assistant manager. Maybe that’s another reason she took the job. With Robin around there’s a greater possibility she’ll get pregnant again and obligated to turn over her second born.
huh, i guess it would make narrative sense for Amber and Mike to exit the main cast. unlike some of the newer characters, they’ve been around since day one and with this wedding their arcs feel pretty much complete.
Maybe I’ve read to much of Willis’s work, but as soon as I saw the first panel I immediately knew something sad was going to happen. And I was right. Dammit.
No, you’re human.Sure, we sugar coat it with kind words, but everyone looks down/away while doing talking if they are about to say something that may hurt feelings.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Marry off my perfect woman to my younger self then move her away will you, Willis?
*slaps with glove*
I challenge you to a duel, sirrah.
As long as they’re not moving out of the comic, I’m okay. If they’re moving out of the comic, I might not feel like reading anymore. =/ Not like I’d stop on purpose–the whole comic’s really well put-together–just I’m extremely lazy, and if I know the two characters I was reading for are gone, I’ll prolly just not care enough to make the effort. I’ll make the effort at first, but then I kinda just…’meh.’
1) There will be an Amber/Mike sub-plot every so often in their new location (like how every so often in It’s Walky they had stories from the remaining Roomies cast), but otherwise they’ll be written out
2) There’s going to be another spin-off comic
3) Shortpacked is ending (quite a few of the storylines and characters seem to be wrapping up)
4) They’re going to Conquest’s new shop right next door to Shortpacked
I figured that Amber would accept Connies offer. The priority shift is tremendous when you become a parent and thoughts of next week turn in to thoughts of the next decade. Amber has matured with surprising alacrity.
Yeahbuhwhat?
Just to Conquest’s store right?
That was my thought. This is so babies.
Oh, and also probably because of baby. Money is hard for a
a new parentanyone to turn down. Mike is going to be a house husband. I wonder if he’ll be a daytime drunk.I’m pretty sure you can’t just make-up expressions like that.
She (is it she, right?) didn’t. Willis did. Damn you, Willis?
DAMN YOU, WILLIS!
I tripled up my various emphasis tags there. Because, y’know, drama.
Also it appears this is a big enough bombshell to even drive Drunk!Mike to (mild) sarcasm.
Oh hi, you must be new around here. Check out the title of the immediately previous storyline*, and DW’s tumblr.
*er, on further study, what I mean is TWO storylines back (book 14 ch3), plus book 13/7 and book 12/8
Hey … I wonder … if the story is already broken up into books and chapters … would each individual strip be a “verse”?
Hmm, forgot about that. Unless the store she’s taking over is out of town.
Conquest implied the toy store she is opening will be in direct competition to Galasso’s.
Kinda hard to compete if they aren’t selling to the same customers.
say WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
Say what?
Babies say what?
Coolguysayswhat?
What?
Huh?
Yes, I know what this implies.
No no no. It’s…
Say whaaaaaaaaaaat?
Or in English English, Do what John?
Whatchu talkin’ about, Willis?
Don’t tell my heart, my achy breaky heart. =’(
Don’t tell my babies, my achy breaky babies. =’(
“… I just don’t think they’ll understand (‘cos they’re babies)”
To a different city?
To a different planet.
To a different universe.
Hmmm, maybe they are moving to DOA, and that means Amber and Amizi-Girl are actually separate people.
Like when John Fox arrived and briefly took over for Wally West at the Flash.
Who’s John Fox?
Flash (John Fox) – http://www.comicvine.com/john-fox/29-24888/
DC character from an alternate future who had super-speed and was the Flash for a while. I think he eventually ended up stranded on Earth Prime and learned he was a comic book character.
Been a while since I read that, though, might have the details wrong.
Honestly, the world would be better off if we all forgot the John Fox Flash…he did have a cool costume thought…well, for the 90s
Of COURSE Amber and Amazi-Girl are separate people…who in their right mind ever think AMBER of all people was Amazi-Girl?
Amber is Spider Car!
Right everyone? ..right?
Denial?
Yeah, wait, that’s me, but anyway..
Weirdly, my mind jumped to “Styx”. Kind of foreboding, that.
Styx isn’t in Egypt.
Unless they’re touring again.
Badum, tish! He’s here all week folks, try the chicken.
To pasqualasqua?
Time for me to climb on the nope train. Why do you do this to me Willis. Fuck, where is my ice cream
Now see, this is what I expected on Friday.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! With that out of the way, I think this works better as a Friday cliffhanger but I’m sure Willis could pull this off.
This just means there’s something even worse waiting for Friday…
hmmm
Now you’ve done it, Sparks. You’ve given him EVIL ideas.
Oh, Friday’s already drawn.
They’re going to raise their baby in jolly old England so they can eat jellied eel without throwing up.
Or they’re moving to a farm in Kansas.
What Sage wisdom that would be…
I got sour news for you jack…
/is English
/only ever tried jellied eel once
/got halfway and had to give up
Still, it’s not as bad as Laverbread…
…TO THE RECEPTION HALL FOR COCKTAILS!
…THIS PARTY TO MCAWESOME’S! LAST ONE IN THE BALL PIT LIKES GALIDOR!
Aw, poor sad Amber *hugs*
Flipping back and forth between the first and last panels, and as far as I can tell, the only differences in the foreground are the angle of Ethan’s mouth triangle and the shading on Leslie’s hair.
Reminds me of Flip-O-Rama from Captain Underpants.
I know I should get this reference, but all I’m pulling out here is Man-man and Boy-boy. Totally not relevant.
While it’s safe to pull out, I would suggest you wear a fandom.
Baby is also trying to fly. BABY, YOU CANNOT FLY. Only the STORK that brought you here can fly.
… and Charizard… after Yellow anyway.
Baby, Fly like an eagle~
.. to the sea. : )
Beneath the sea, besides the flame,
Of the coast where the lost beast came,
To bring the world misery and shame,
A piece of the world is missing.
The path you should have never crossed,
The beast exacts a heavy cost,
The number of the beast is lost,
You will know it by its hissing.
Shit! The entity’s returned!! *Runs and hides futilely*
I am now scared and slightly aroused.
Lies. All babies can fly. They just have to be aided by someone tall with longer arms than them.
Leslie’s hair is sad!
The check-out light behind amber changes colors and one of the petals on Joe’s shirt changes position too.
Oh, and Joe’s face gains shading.
Anyone else notice that Donna is not scowling in this one? Looks like she imitates her dad!
She wasn’t scowling earlier right after the vows
Donna might wound up like Momoka.
Obviously someone gently spiked her formula.
ROBIN!
Or dipped their finger in the hard stuff and let her suck on it.
Just like her MOM!
Aaaaaand there it is.
Maybe it’s just a really big city in California that they have to move across?
The baby looks drunk too
INFINITE CREYS
No though I kind of expected the drop to be then, what with the title, but still, daaaaamn.
This, right after Mike’s drunken profession of his favouritism of Pinkie Pie.
Damn.
Wonder if someone spiked Donna’s bottle, she looks happy. And if Amber going to take Con’s offer, they would move I guess. Looks like she’s going to do it. Aw.
I love how Mike, even kind of shocked she did this now, is unable to break the happy drunkenness.
And what ever will happen to our own speedy, trouble-maker, Robin DeSanto. Clearly they haven’t forgotten she lives with them.
There’s always Leslie.
Damn you Willis! You can’t take Mike away from us again! Or Amber for that matter!
…Well, I juuust might be bribed into accepting it if Robin and Leslie get back together. Wait, no, they will anyway, so no deal!
But wait, maybe SP! will continue, but we will get a spinoff comic with Amber and Mike!
/optimist
//…Of course it would, in fact, actually be called “Amber and Mike!”
Or “It’s Donna!”
I could imagine Galasso readying his hamster death squad.
Wonder how this will affect the whole “second born” thing. I doubt Galasso will forgive a debt like that.
It’s void if she’s no longer assistant manager. Maybe that’s another reason she took the job. With Robin around there’s a greater possibility she’ll get pregnant again and obligated to turn over her second born.
….I’m struggling to remember how that little twist came about.

Noooooooooo…. Wow… Honestly depressed…
Why would they move…? Doesn’t make any sense if she’s taking the other job.
I should have seen this coming, after the secret of how Mike came back to life was revealed.
I forgot that Faz had a domain.
huh, i guess it would make narrative sense for Amber and Mike to exit the main cast. unlike some of the newer characters, they’ve been around since day one and with this wedding their arcs feel pretty much complete.
Well, there’s the restructuring.
So, we’ve had the merger and now the restructuring. Huh, never thought of that.
Aw dang man
Drunk Mike is too adorable in this
DDAAAMMNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!! YYYYYYYOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!! WWWWWWWWWWWWIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was all “yay happy wedding!” and now I’m all “NOOOO AMBER AND MIKE DON”T MOVE!”
Maybe I’ve read to much of Willis’s work, but as soon as I saw the first panel I immediately knew something sad was going to happen. And I was right. Dammit.
No, you’re human.Sure, we sugar coat it with kind words, but everyone looks down/away while doing talking if they are about to say something that may hurt feelings.
terrifying baby… one eye bigger than the other…
Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Donna San Francisco wgah’nagl fhtagn!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Marry off my perfect woman to my younger self then move her away will you, Willis?
*slaps with glove*
I challenge you to a duel, sirrah.
Please tell me you arent writing them out of the series, because I want to see their antics along with the rest. Dont go Quesada on me Willis!
Wait does Donna become happy when her father is happy? Did Mike get his infant child drunk? Hopefully it’s the former and not the later.
Nah, she just has an empathic link to her dad.
I think this will lead to one of four things:
1) There will be an Amber/Mike sub-plot every so often in their new location (like how every so often in It’s Walky they had stories from the remaining Roomies cast), but otherwise they’ll be written out
2) There’s going to be another spin-off comic
3) Shortpacked is ending (quite a few of the storylines and characters seem to be wrapping up)
4) They’re going to Conquest’s new shop right next door to Shortpacked
Eh, I doubt 3 is the case. Pretty sure Willis still wants a comic he can rant about Fan Dumb in.
I figured that Amber would accept Connies offer. The priority shift is tremendous when you become a parent and thoughts of next week turn in to thoughts of the next decade. Amber has matured with surprising alacrity.
I love how Drunk Mike gets his own Tag
Nope. Nope city. In the state of Nope. In the heart of Nope Nation.
On the Continent of Nope America, on the planet of NoGaea, in the Nope Solar System.
I was expecting this.
Joyce and Mike were TOO FUNCTIONAL TO LIVE
Arrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amber be jumping ship!
NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Donna, you ok?
