The Lucy comic have just as easily used Catwoman, for instance. No animated version of Catwoman ever had to mention that they kept their masks on, and the complaints against Catwoman artists in the new 52 were just as much as against the Starfire writer. To be sure, a poorly written character, and a character subjected to gratuitous sex scenes, are two different things, though often occurring together.
