As a former trucker, I can attest that that extra “leg-weight” would kill him at the weigh stations and CAT scales. Considering how trailers are loaded, Prime would never qualify for an EZ Pass.
Alot of people seeem to forget that Optimus wasn’t an infallible guy. He shot an exploding rock, allowed Wheeljack some crazy experiments and simply watched as two boys ducktaped a girl and dragged her away.
I don’t recall my Optimus Prime (or Ultra Magnus, for that matter) being nearly that thick in the fifth wheel area. I therefore assume it must be a reference to the recent Masterpiece Optimus post.
Does it allow him to load more stuff on the back with the feet stuck out like that?
Trailers attach via the hitch, so the amount of leg mass is irrelevant other than adding a whole bunch of unnecessary weight to the vehicle.
Yeah, but there’s more surface area on the back of the truck. Therefore (slightly) more cargo capacity.
That would make sense if he were a pickup truck, but he’s not.

I read that as “As a former truck, I can attest that…”
As transformations go, it could be a LOT worse.
Nah, Prime’s more subtle than that.
I always thought they went into him and became seats or something.
“And my foot will go up your ass if you don’t shut up soon.”
I imagine it’d be difficult but worth it to see a truck kick someone in the ass.
Yotomoe’s comment above yours plus this one makes for a very interesting image!!
Prime’s just got some serious back, like daaaaum.
*plays the song of that title from ZZ Top*
Has no one ever know where does Prime trailer goes?
those are his internal organs. He squeezes them out of his mouth like a starfish.
Really? Because IIRC, his trailer always appear out of nowhere everytime he transformed into a truck.
I don’t know about you. But I wouldn’t want to see the arduous and horrifying process of him basically puking his innards out.
‘Subspace’ is the fanon term. But I like Yotomoe’s explanation better
Well, in the Marvel stuff, it just stood there conspicuously during battle. It’s only the cartoon that likes to disappear it.
Maybe he feels he gets better energon mileage with more aerodynamics this way?
I’m not sure what it is exactly I’m supposed to be looking at in this strip. It just looks likea truck to me.
There are ninjas in the panel with the regular truck.
Where? I don’t see-
Oh…
Ack! I’ll hide in this ordinary semi truck and wait it out… if I lock the doors they can’t get me, right? I’ll be safe.. safe
At least his legs aren’t hanging off his chest. That would be stupid.
For some reason, I had forgotten Spike wore those silly, silly boots.
EVERYONE wore those silly, silly boots! And the unpictured yellow hardhats.
He just likes the color blue a lot, okay? He wants to make sure he’s blue enough in truck mode.
“You’re right. I have failed and there’s only one solution. BLOW ME UP!!!“
But I’d burn my mouth on the tail pipe.
“Plus, those are my turbo boosters. For when I have to be somewhere really fast. I’m not going to use NOS in my body to friggin’ Die.”
Aaaand now I’ll be keeping my MP04. Between this & the covers, I don’t see the point.
Sure he’s a bit bigger, but it isn’t like this hasn’t happened with the toys before.
So do toy collectors actually play with their toys, or do they just sort of look at them?
Depends on the collector.
To be entirely fair, they don’t actually go above the stripe.
This is why I liked in Animated and the Unicron trilogy that he was a firetruck, it seems to fit better anyways.
Now you have to draw the truck that MP-1 turns into.
Alot of people seeem to forget that Optimus wasn’t an infallible guy. He shot an exploding rock, allowed Wheeljack some crazy experiments and simply watched as two boys ducktaped a girl and dragged her away.
So that last one is basically the only episode of Transformers G1 I’ve ever watched and OHGODWHYYYYYY.
Totally reading that in Peter Cullen’s voice.
Is there anyone who doesn’t?
If they offer fire engine and dump truck attachments like Animated Optimus has, I am fully on board with this.

Click the linked word under the strip.
I had no idea there was a link there until you said that. XD
Heh, I didn’t see it, either. That’s ridiculously thick compared to the original toy, though (and more “greebly” as well).
The comic does exaggerate somewhat.
