I’m going with the ‘bad shot’ theory. More specifically, Metroplex is kinda designed to fight something the size of a city, so it’s not like he really needs finesse. Or: He could take out the cannon on his own, so long as no one minds the unacceptable level of collateral damage.
Meh, that part’s easy. There’s gotta be a Transformer who knits somewhere, right? All you need is giant knitting needles and a LOT of sheep. *Looks up on wiki* Yeah, sheepacron existed in G1, why not?
Haven’t played the game, but in G1 Metroplex transformed into the city where they (may or may not have) lived. So if they were inclined to stroll down the street and catch a show…
I need a toy of that Metroplex, regardless. Also, that battle where you had to hold out against the Leapers with like 1 guy ass back-up as you waited for Metroplex to re-sync was annoying. It reminded me painfully of that part in WFC where Ratchet was repairing Omega, though thankfully shorter and without someone you needed to constantly revive.
I play normal in FOC and easy in WFC. I also may or may not have shot at Metroplex once. AND THOSE STUPID SHOTGUN ENEMIES MAKE ME MISS WFC’S MELEE. Also, those Autobot generics (at least, some) remind me of G1 Rad.
I mean the 1st time you fight them. That space is TINY. I finally got past it by sniping the 1st guy with a Burst Rifle, then dispatching the rest via a combination of blowing those little explosives up, and by Thermo rockets. BTW, Willis, what’s your favorite weapon combo? I kinda like using the Gear Shredder and Subsonic Repeater in Cliff’s level. Also, I like how they enabled you to see your enemy’s health when you’re using the zoomed-in Burst Rifle. Also, I’m happy with the bigger clipsize for the Nucleon Rifle. Null Ray suuuucked.
I can’t remember very well but isn’t the first place you encounter them where it’s an ambush in the room with 3 breakable walls? I just shot out one of the walls and then switched to the Scrapmaker before entering and triggering the ambush. As soon as I entered I just walked back out of the room as I shot my gun. I took them out quickly since they end up funneling through the one broken wall.
Yeah. The Thermo Rocket Laucher is pretty fun, though I think that even with its upgrade, it has less ammo then it’s predecessor, though the fact it now locks onto robots fixes that (except in multiplayer. )
Yeah. I personally love the Gear Shredder. Also, Riot Cannon is pretty awesome, all things considered. The Orbital Pistol works pretty well too. The shockwave was good in campaign, and decent in multiplayer. Also, I preordered from GameStop, but didn’t get the pack. Is it shipped to you or the store? Whatever the case, I’ll probably get the Optimus skin and the guns with the DLC next month. I likely won’t haven’t beaten the campaign at that point.
As back-up. Though it could be ass back-up, as he did jack-scrap to help, besides being a convenient meatshield on occassion, though usually the Leapers jumped at me instead of charging. 1 thing WFC has over FOC: at most, there are 2 Brutes on the battlefield (the big hammer-dudes).
“Hold on, Metroplex. Even though I can see the warp cannon clearly from here, I need to fight through a few more blocks of Decepticon-overrun territory so I can be REALLY, REALLY sure you can tell what I’m pointing at.”
Wow… uh, I actually didn’t continue to be into Transformers as an adult, but I did just remember that as a child, Metroplex was hands down the coolest toy I had. Other than “Cyborg He-Man” which was really just me covering a He-Man in tin foil in order to cope with the horror of that one scene in Superman III.
Man Grimlock sucks in games. Maybe Grimlock needs to be my big awesome destructive pal in the next game. I was looking forward to the Grimlock stuff until it arrived.
I was also hoping that Metropex would be more driving around kicking butt in his land carrier mode with all the little tiny transformers clinging to him and shooting at stuff while you try to dodge…I dunno…stuff and then blow up other stuff.
I always hated his city mode. I’d rather have a weird rolling aircraft carrier than some sort of goofy “city” that maybe looks like a weird future police station on the moon or something.
I was also hoping they’d improve the vehicle modes a bit.
I miss campaign coop.
The Escalation mode is fun though.
Of course now I need to go back and finish Darksiders II.
I’m still not understanding why the hell they’re sending 1-3 regular dudes into missions, backed up only some basically untrained dudes with 1 bodyform. Also, I’m sad SOME characters don’t appear in story. *coughWheeljackScattershotDragStripDemolishorcough*
Does this game have a dubstep soundtrack? That’s what I hear in my head when I think of Transformers battling (dance or otherwise). In other news, Step Up 4: Cybertron Boogaloo!
That scene actually droves me nuts because the game kept freezing there until I deleted all my save data of the game and created a new save without installing the G1 Retro Pack DLC.
I’m in the 3rd chapter of the campaign now, and so far, I enjoy it. Same goes for the multiplayer.
Hey guys, this is kind of off-topic (but still really geeky) but TheOatmeal.com is doing another fund-raiser– this time to buy Nikola Tesla’s last laboratory and have a museum built on it. Details here:
You guys should probably check it out. It’s running til the end of September so there’s lots of time to do so. But it sure would be cool if you’d all help to spread the word. We’re building Tesla a museum, yo!
(I have nothing whatsoever to do with the campaign; I just think it’s really, really awesome.)
The speech font makes me think Metroplex is saying understooooooo.
So either this Metroplex is really a bad shot or Prime has no faith in him.
well, doesn’t Prime have a tendency to be a dick?
Or that may just be in certain photocomics I read, come to think of it…Prime’s afraid he won’t be able to *identify* it properly. So.
I’m going with the ‘bad shot’ theory. More specifically, Metroplex is kinda designed to fight something the size of a city, so it’s not like he really needs finesse. Or: He could take out the cannon on his own, so long as no one minds the unacceptable level of collateral damage.
eh, there wasn’t anything else really important in that square kilometer anyway.
You can hear the rolling eyes from Metroplex.
Metroplex’s eyes don’t roll, they are ovoid. They would have to gimbal.
Prime needs to be there to help in case there’s an in the way.
Sigh. In case there’s an insurmountable waist-high fence in the way.
Why do I get the feeling Optimus makes Metroplex bring mittens everywhere, and sews nametags on his BVDs?
But- But what if he LOSES HIS MITTENS?! Then his precious little hands would be cold! *The horror*
I’d be more concerned by the replacement cost. You know how long it takes to knit a mitten that covers a hand the size of a small house?
Meh, that part’s easy. There’s gotta be a Transformer who knits somewhere, right? All you need is giant knitting needles and a LOT of sheep. *Looks up on wiki* Yeah, sheepacron existed in G1, why not?
… steel wool, right?
–Dave, hope nobody shines a flashlight on them
Next week, Ultra Car drives himself on the TOP GEAR test track so the boys can interview him on TV.
Some say he’s actually seeing the Stig on the side, other may tell you that he dresses up as the hero Amazi-girl.
All we know is, he’s the Ultra Car.
I read that in Richard Hammond’s voice.
I always thought ‘Metroplex’ sounded like a movie theater. Like, that’s where the Autobots watched Bad Boys 2 or something.
That’s funny, ‘cuz folks keep thinking Multiplex sounds like a Transformer.
Haven’t played the game, but in G1 Metroplex transformed into the city where they (may or may not have) lived. So if they were inclined to stroll down the street and catch a show…
well considering his name means City(Metro) Complex yeah he’d probably have one or two stashed somplace.
Do you think shows are interrupted for Metroplex’s transformation? Or are there bots in there right now viewing Shrek the Third in 3D?
Not if Metroplex has any taste.
Yeah, he’s probably one of those small indie film theaters that only shows obscure french films from between 1961 and 1978.
I think you may be thinking of the word “multiplex”. A metroplex is just a very large city.
This is why I play on easy.

The Scrapmaker gun works quite well on them. Just be sure to have some distance between you and them.

Its fun till you play online. Its WAY OP. You can just walk into a match with a Striker and just blast guys away with that thing.
I sure do miss Scientist’s shock wave

Check your Gamestop receipt. The download code should be towards the bottom.
I’m just going to leave this here.
Stop having fun, guys!
Easy? aw c’mon…where’s your “can-do” attitude!
I tried playing on easy and STILL never beat that blasted endless level. I’ve never seen the end of that game.
I have doubts about whether I should get the sequel.
Nothing in FOC was as frustrating as the Omega Supreme/Ratchet level.
It took me a shorter time to get past TRYPTICON than that level. And I HATED Trypticon. God thank you for not putting Omega in FOC. Mother FOC’er.
Fighting Trypticon on Hard was probably the most frustrating thing I’ve experienced in a long time.
Fighting Trypticon on Hard was probably the most frustrating thing I’ve experienced in a long time.
Well, there is that part of Cliff’s level…
Ass back-up, you say.
As back-up. Though it could be ass back-up, as he did jack-scrap to help, besides being a convenient meatshield on occassion, though usually the Leapers jumped at me instead of charging. 1 thing WFC has over FOC: at most, there are 2 Brutes on the battlefield (the big hammer-dudes).

lol! Exactly what I was thinking through the level. Is Metroplex stupid or something. He is literally standing right next to them!
Oh god why did you remind me of that scene whyyyyyyy

If you want an aircraft carrier, call Broadside. Metroplex is a city first and foremost. All the other “modes” are secondary.

As implausible as the targeting mechanic was, playing through the Metroplex level was still an incredible experience.
When Optimus is in the bowels of the city and demanding to know if Perceptor’s remotely shifting the room around… chills.
That scene actually droves me nuts because the game kept freezing there until I deleted all my save data of the game and created a new save without installing the G1 Retro Pack DLC.
I’m in the 3rd chapter of the campaign now, and so far, I enjoy it. Same goes for the multiplayer.
…”Pretty sure I won’t.”
This comic makes my day.
