If it’ll make you feel any better, just think about how the only DeSanto sibling we’ve seen turned out. Knowing how to change a diaper is a very small subset of actually knowing how to care for a malleable little larval human.
Things are so much easier before they’re sapient. Sorta.
Simpler, maybe, but not easier.
Plus, things are so much more fulfilling once they’re actually interactive.
New curveball, Robin was the better mother between her and her actual mother (I mean look at Robin herself).
This comic makes me kind of sad about the current state of Roz and Robin’s relationship.
Oh and hey we finally see Donna’s face!
I didn’t think the age difference was so much that Robin ever took care of Roz. Maybe in the Dumbing of Age universe, but in the flashbacks to Robin’s childhood Roz only looked a few years younger.

I like seeing this side of Robin. A sort of no room for hiding character under a ton of puree’d skittle dust Robin.
This is great. I kept seeing all those comments from people saying things to the extent of “do not leave Robin alone with that baby”, yet I had the feeling she would make a pretty good godmother for some reason.
Nice moment for Robin fans.

And now you’ve spoiled the obvious upcoming Godmother comic series for me. The one in which Robin & Leslie reconcile their differences, become Godparents, & Leslie gets kidded.
Maybe with Ethan being the non participating sperm donor.
Or did I just do that, after you put the idea on my head by mentioning that Robin would be a fine Godmother?
My first thought was fairy godmother and I couldn’t help but imagine

Are you making a subtle comment on Leslie & Robin’s partner choices? Because I seem to think iive heard the term Fairy used to apply to their erm.. Preferences.

There is(was?) a show on Nickelodeon(I don’t have that channel anymore) called the “Fairly Oddparents” which was about essentially fairy godparents and what Yotomoe quoted is from the opening song to the show -except different name of course.
Oh, I know about the show. Also, in the show they always refer to themselves as Fairy Godparents, the Oddparents bit only comes into play during the theme song.
Robin & Leslie being Fairy Godparents, might be a double play of refs, for reasons already stated.
I love how even the baby doesn’t know quite how this is going to go in the 3rd panel.
Is it more normal to keep extra milk in a bottle or in a bag?
Depends on how much you’re pumping, really. Most people only have a couple of bottles that fit to the pump, so it’s easier to store milk in sterile bags made for the purpose than to constantly be switching out bottles.
But speaking of which, Amber is probably going to be super uncomfortable if she goes the rest of the night without feeding the baby. Ah, what price for a little sleep?
There are roughly 50 million different and conflicting opinions on that.
Bags are cheaper and store more compactly. Bottles are easier to get ready. It really depends on how much milk you are planning to keep in reserve and for what reason.
My family has always used bottles; they attach right to the pump. It didn’t even occur to me that you might use a bag.
The plural of anecdote is data, right?
Real friends are the ones who let new parents have their deserved rest once in a while.

Well, her death was retconned, but I’m pretty sure all the stuff Black Mask did to her still happened.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted! Just…wow. Did not see that coming.
Well, she was a congressperson. Granted she didn’t get a second term but she wasn’t recalled either(despite her flagrant abuses of office I.E. trying to get a bill passed to force two gay men to makeout.).
What part of your life experiences have led you to think that being a Congressperson is a mark on the “responsible” side of the checklist? : )
I believe she had three terms and was running for her fourth.
An especially appropriate sentiment coming from someone with a Pinky Pie avatar. I mean, Robin is clearly the Pinky Pie of the Walkyverse, and remember what Pinky’s initial ideas about babysitting were like.
Admittedly, Pinkie did figure out how to do it in the end, so there’s always hope. But, yeah, Robin is totally the Pinkie Pie of the Walkyverse!

Never heard a baby referred to as “Bodily Excretions” before, but I think I have to adopt the term.

I’m well aware of that, but favoured an absurdity over a dull logicality.
Robin, in her own weird way, is a nice person. Tried to get an anti-cancer bill passed (yeah can’t happen but nice thought), bought her lesbian a house, and now letting Mike and Amber catch some rest. Not too suprized she’s good with Donna.
Way to go for Amber for losing that baby weight incredibly fast!

My first night home from the hospital, I’m told, was a very noisy one. I didn’t cry or anything, I just snorted and made slurping noises and whatnot. My parents moved me into my own room right away.
To be fair Robin is somewhat responsible for Donna.
All I can say is that this page the moment Robin uttered “I got it covered” my mind was blown from just that alone.
I thought one didn’t hold babies upright until a few months into it, like you’re supposed to just cradle them vertically for a while.
Mine is 7 weeks old and has adored being snuggled on the chest and over the shoulder like Robin is doing from the day she was born. Its also really nice for getting at least one hand free to do things like warm milk
If she is not squirming too much, you can even prop her up with your forearm and do things that need to hands!
As long as the head is supported, it doesn’t matter if it’s a hand or a forearm or a shoulder or what. Ya just gotta not let it loll all over the place.
You’ve just got to support the head. Also, you must hold a baby upright for burping, which you do after every feeding unless you want to deal with a gassy, unhappy baby. Well, you could go with the over-the-knee burping method, but none of my kids particularly liked that one.
Hey, am I the only one that isn’t surprised when Robin is competent? She can be responsible and what not (I actually haven’t read any of the other comics, just caught up on this and Dumbing of Age, I’m going on what i’ve read here). I remember that incident when she told Ethan something like “its kinda pointless for me to act stupid when everyone else is doing it for me”? Or that moment of realization, after she pulled the drama tag, she knew her world would need comic relief and she was the only one who could reliably produce it, so she did? There are times when she genuinely does something stupid because the drama can’t be escaped, but for the most part I think she knows when it’s good to pause and be serious, like right now.
But Bodily Excretions are tasty, or at least the ones that come out of breast are. Yummy.
I feel like I need to go back over the last like… dozen or so comics and count all the “Would you let Robin take care of your kid?” naysayers.
They underestimated just how awesome Robin is. Robin takes care of all yo babies! She’s so babies.

After the abductiees were abducted and brought to work with the army their families minds were erased of her so she remembers but they don’t.

On one hand, I’m glad to see Robin being portrayed as helpful and competent. On the other hand, I’m worried that Amber might feel threatened in her role as mother.
Dude, when you’re dead tired and someone’s willing to handle the baby for you late4 at night, what you feel is grateful.
This is obviously the first time Robin’s done this for Amber, so I’m assuming she hasn’t been “mothering” the baby during the day. Unless Robin starts trying to breastfeed the baby for her, I don’t see why Amber would get upset about Robin handling some night time feeding/changing.

if nothing else amber and mike will not have to ever hire a baby sitter or nanny they have one in robin as long as she does not go so far as offer to breast feed the little one for amber.

She looks mildly traumatised to me. In a kind of “who is this strange person that isn’t mommy, and why are they feeding me instead of mommy?”.
Same way my cousin’s freshly unboxed miniature human did when I had to hold her for a while… but having nothing to feed her with, the unfamiliarity factor won out over the “hey, they’re feeding and changing me, they must be alright” one so the tears started again.
