For some reason, when I see the name “Skitty,” I think of the moon cat from the Doctor Dolittle books I read as a kid.

Completely tangential (though possibly of import, should Mr. Willis ever decide to re-name the cat officially), but there is a short story out there somewhere, in a surprisingly good anthology of science fiction and fantasy stories involving cats, where there is a telepathic cat whose name eventually gets shortened to “Skitty”. I think that may even be the short story’s title.

If you ever want to check it out, I actually quite recommend it, as it has some really great and often really funny stories in it (my favorite is “It Must Be Someplace”); it’s called Cat Fantastic. It came out yeeeeears ago, so I don’t even know if it’s still in print, but I still hang on to my copy.

It reminds me of a lamprey… not only does it have a mouth like that, if I’m not mistaken it also has no esophageal muscles, and thus has to ties its little eel-like body into knots in order to swallow. You know, the bits of corpse it eats.

The ocean: satisfying your desire for Lovecraftian horror, like it or not, for millions of years. And counting.

That’s cute, but it’s more likely to just be a case of “not cleaning up”. Slobs aren’t all hoarders.

And Symptoms don’t work that way.

Symptoms are not simplistic one to one indicators that allow automatic diagnosis as soon as you spot one. A sore throat is one symptom of a strep infection but not all sore throats are strep infections. Fatigue is a symptom of anemia. Yet people can feel fatigue without being anemic.
