Which makes me wonder. Will she now finally tell Faz they are related? Or will Mike? “Hey guess what, your dad’s dead!”
Ooh. That thought didn’t even occur to me. This might actually break Faz. To learn that the woman he’s been lusting after is his sister and that their father has died before he could ever meet him? That’s pretty much the most horrific and soul-crushing experience that a man could go through…
God, I can’t wait until somebody tells him. The complete and utter destruction of Faz’s dreams should be amazingly entertaining.
This is Faz we are speaking about….. the guy that assumes being on the bottom in gay sex brings up his attractiveness level. I highly doubt he would be deterred by a factor of being related. Probably be even more motivated saying something like, “We are only half-related which makes mating a much more mutually romantic experience. You will sleep with Faz now yes?”

I actually misread Amber’s bubble in the second panel. I thought she said “So…how’s the mob?”, as in referring to her father’s family as “the mob”. Of course, I forgot he was hiding from the actual criminal mob.

I like how the tense is ambiguous with Amber’s last line. She could be either be saying “I had previous fantasies in which I hit him with a truck” or “Hitting him with a truck happens in my fantasies, and that may continue despite this news.”

She is a little sad, look at her eyes. She also hates the man for what he did to her and doesn’t want to admit that sadness to anyone, even herself.
Why should she mourn him, after all? He hurt her AND her mom? She feels bad BECAUSE she feels bad, so she covers it all up.
The mere fact of fathering children doesn’t entitle him to respect – that comes from his behaviour, and from what we’ve been shown he didn’t deserve any.

This is the guy that abused Amber so thoroughly that her mom helped her escape from by setting up a secret apartment across the country. When Amber broke down and got in touch with him because she had never known a life outside his abuse, he attempted to fucking kidnap her. He fathered Faz and a few others, too, which I think cancels out any goodwill he deserves for Amber’s existence.
Dude, not everyone is willing to put up with abuse from their blood relations. Some people recognize when their relations aren’t acting like family; some of those detach from them accordingly. Maybe you’ve experienced something remotely similar to what Amber went through and maintained those relationships–more power to you if so; maybe you haven’t and just can’t imagine what it’s like to have to make that choice. But I think it’s kind of skeezy to suggest that her view of what makes someone worth her grief is wrong.
Her father was an abusive asshole. Even if she did have a few good memories of him, he was still an abusive asshole.
Just because they share genetics does not mean she owes him anything, not respect, not sadness, not anything.

I’m sorry to hear about your mom, but I don’t think getting upset about the joke in the comic will do you any good. Willis’ characters go through a mix of fantastical and realistic situations. Heart problems are realistic, and the only reason there’s a joke is because this is, primarily, a gag comic.
It’s not like he’s being disrespectful to anyone who’s gone through these issues. If you’re actually not offended and I just misread your comment, sorry.

I recklessly speculate that Faz killed Amber’s abusive father in order to ingratiate himself to her and thus win her heart.
And without knowing it was also his secret father. That would be…super messed up.
