Since I accidentally ran Wednesday’s strip on Tuesday, here’s a quick replacement Wednesday. It’s Dark of the Moon Transformers Valentine’s Day cards to go with the Revenge of the Fallen ones from two years ago.
Transformers 4 on June 29, 2014, people! Happy Valentine’s Day.

The Community one wins.
But still, overall, hilarious.
Ironhide: DAAAAMN YOU, WILLIS!
Community and “Hugs and Squeezes” are gonna wind up on my housemates’ windshields tomorrow. Eh, I can be a day late with ‘em if they’re this perfect.
Community references make me Changry.
I’d blame the fact that I haven’t seen the movie on how I can’t tell what’s going on in any of those images, but I just remembered I couldn’t tell what was going on in any of the RotF Valentines either and I did see that one.
Whatever. I’ll just assume every messy cluster of metal is some robot getting its face ripped off and I’m probably right.
Why is it a reboooooooooooooooooooooot?
people love mainframe.
I for one am looking forward to the new movie already (hopefully we get more comics from the movies soon to build up to it)
I doubt it’ll be a full reboot, but just like new characters to allow new viewers to get into it without having to find out who Sam was from previous films etc
Still photos really highlight the problems with the live action transformers movies, don’t they? For most of those images, not only can you not tell what’s happening, you can’t even tell that what you’re looking at is supposed to be a robot at all, and not some random camo pattern or magic eye picture or any other form of visual static.
* the aesthetic problems, anyway. There’s plenty of other problems, particularly in the scripts, that no image could fully encapsulate, though “toaster humps actress’ leg”, “giant robot pees on man”, and “Michael Bay literally teabags audience with wrecking balls” come close.
Maybe you can’t.
I’ve never had any issues with telling what’s happening in the Transformers films. I think people who do have issues must have worse eyesight than I do (And I need to wear glasses for reading and fine details!)
I can tell what’s going on in the Transformers movies, and I wear glasses for everything.
Maybe it’s some kind of perceptual thing, differing between people? I have pretty good eyesight, but find it hard to see the overall shape of each Transformer because of all the tiny surface detail. Other people may be better at pattern-recognition, which will stand them in good stead next time killer robots invade.
I’m okay while they’re standing still. (Or at least I think I am – where on earth is Laserbeak in the above pictures??) But when they start engaging motion blurring camera-spinning combat, I can barely tell the robots from the trees, much less from each other. (I learned that Starscream’s arm got torn off from the internet, after having seen the film twice.)
Laserbeak disguised himself as a small pink Bumblebee to quickly earn the trust of a small child so that he could assassinate her father.
Oh yeah! I was wondering why he looked so pink in that shot. I assumed it was the lighting.
Selective amnesia is already setting in…
I know I’ve been studying Chinese for too long when I feel that need to point out that for any of these ‘Chang’ jokes to work, you’re going to be pronouncing the name wrong. But that’s not important. I’m sorry. >_<
I almost thought you weren’t getting that the hard-G/soft-G thing wasn’t important but then my brain coughed a puff of smoke and started working for the morning
I still think “WE’LL KILL THEM ALL” is a great way to sum up the entire live-action movie series.
Also I was glad that the Chang bits were the only real Michael Bay Zany Character Moments in the third movie. No balls or peeing or humping.
Also also, nice Valentines.
Aw that’s sweet…wait 4th Transformers movie!? O_O
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
And directed by Micheal Bay.
Can I get a double Noooo?
http://nooooooooooooooo.com/
Maybe the studio will impose some damn restrictions and controls on Bay this time. Maybe they’ll hire an art director and cut Bays’ pay every time he tries to override the decisions of someone who is competent. I’ve SEEN the old concept art from the production of the first movie. We could have had transformers that looked basically like War for Cybertron designs. But Michael Bay wanted to direct Terminator, so he used Transformers as his opportunity to play with a franchise he’d never be given.
I long for the day people stop trying to badly compare Transformers film designs to the Terminator.
That would be a fine day indeed…
but that day may be quite a while away with THIS fandom >.>
It’s like they’ve never actually seen a Terminator, or have such a loose definition of “a Terminator” that it encompasses basically any robot ever.
I saw all 4 terminators and the TV show. The point of comparison is after you take the skin *off* – lots of exposed little greebly moving parts. Most non-thatrical transformers designs have reasonably large panels of external casing that dominate the visual design, rather than innards doing so like in the live action transformers and, yes, terminator design esthetics.
Of course, the terminator robots do have an excuse: by the time you get down to the robot parts, you *are* looking at innards.
“Badly compare”? Ok then, believe what you want to.
well the only Terminator-esque thing in the first 3 films so far is Alice, and that’s just because she was pretending to be a human despite being a robot
Terminators and movie Transformers both look more like G1 Transformers than they look like each other.
Um, no, and obviously not – they’re both live-action high-detail, and G1 is animated low-detail. And that’s before you even start talking about details. (Sarcasm failure?)
High-rez version for printing, please?

Thank you!
A few years back, when my little brother was still forced to give out the generic valentines for his class in elementary school, he handed out Transformers valentines to his class. Your’s are better.
I wish these had gone up before V-Day. I’d totally have passed them out. Oh well, next year!
where is the 1st movie valentines? I want some Barricade grabbing Sam and yelling “LADIESMAN WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE!”
I’m not sure the world needs a Valentine’s Day card about “Sam’s special alone time.”
No, no, wait, I was wrong. It totally does.
If this had a Facebook “like” component, I would definitely give this a “like”, but since this doesn’t, I’ll give a big grin.
Wait, there’s a fourth movie coming out? And it’s still being directed by Michael Bay? O__o
*Sigh* and thus all my hopes of a reboot with a new director (that would have hopefully been able to handle the franchise better without resorting to crude fratboy humor) goes out the window ):
Synchronicity… I was listening to Little River Band’s “Lady,” and just as I got to the card that says “You melt my heart,” the song got to the line that goes “But don’t have a cold heart.”
I’m still choking on the sip of water I had taken at the time…
This is far much better than the real ones. It looks like someone who doesn’t know transformers just simply look at their names and made a dumb pun at it.
