I’m digging the fact the figures are continuing the use of wrist hinges along with the swivels! The modern era molds just keep getting better. *Drool.*

Cobra Commander’s helmet is choice, as is the new Cobra Trooper’s (I thought for a split second the black collar was a dj style pair of headphones, haha!)!

The Joe Trooper’s helmet looks too much like something outta “Halo” though. It’s a nice figure, don’t get me wrong, but a spin on the Steel Brigade brain bucket woulda worked a bit better in my opinion. And are those landmines on the top of his ruck-sack? Nice!

Red Ninjas? Really? Really really?? Ugh… I hope they’re just a small side distraction in the film (if they’re even in it). The figure looks alright.

Speaking of Ninjas: ho-hum about SE & SS. =|

That’s a spooky face on Zartan. =O Is Arnold Voslo still portraying him? The figure looks like a nice throw back to his original figure… but, is it just me, or does he look too skinny? Maybe it’s the one piece jumpsuit not having a belt around the waist…

And Roadblock is a nice replication of Mr. Johnson! Makes me think Hasbro just yanked all the heads off of Build ‘N Brawl figures and slapped ‘em on a new body. Lol! The gun is odd but cool looking: like an updated version of the old knuckle duster types of yore…

All in all, decent opening set of figures. Here’s hoping the rest are cool as well.

As for the comic: har! I hope the old Roadblock voice:head doesn’t meet up with this new one. They could either fight for domination of Ethan’s psyche and drive him insane from loss of sleep… or form a tag team (“The Rock & ‘Block Connection”?) and *really* push him over the edge into “Ninja Rick-killing-a-guy-due-to-hallucinations-and-getting-away-with-it” territory BUT MORE MASSIVE FOR THE LULZ (and the “buckets o’ blood” people out there)!!

I'd find it funny if there was a connection to "The Expendables" bantered about since he had a bit role in it as a "head of an organization" and had some kind of "elite team." It'd make for a weird movie-verse interactivity since all the characters weren't using their "real names": "G.I. Joe" mixed with "Commando") alongside "Rambo" and whatever else was chucked into that film! Lol! Joe Colton *does* have some backstory... I'm just too lazy to look for the links. =P
