Wait, what? How can you possibly be so dense? You make up a story about these commenters in order to give you and excuse for disliking them and you call them hypocrites?

First of all, if you bother to read these comments sections, you’ll realize that opinions vary wildly here. Second, even if that didn’t happen, you can’t simply predict what other people might say about a situation based on what they said in an entirely different one, with different characters and different motivations.

Third, and this is basic human psychology, people are more likely to side with a character they know and like than with one they know and dislike or with one thay don’t know at all. So even if the situation you described were to happen it still wouldn’t mean the commenters are hypocrites.

Okay, so if Leslie’s husband were to freak out like panel 2 for her failure to reveal her lesbian-ity, what would the entire comment thread say? “What a dick.”
But when Leslie freaks out about Malaya’s straight-ity, everyone’s all like “yeah kill Malaya!”
I hate the Malaya character. But the haters really make me want to side with her because of their hypocrisy.
