A few days ago, case assortment information for the upcoming Transformers Prime: Robots in Disguise toyline revealed that we were getting a new Deluxe (now redubbed “Revealer”) Hot Shot toy. Despite my super obvious love for all things Hot Shot, I wasn’t all that excited. See, we learned previously that “Hot Shot” is a name that had been reassigned to Hot Rod for trademark ownership reasons. Screw a Hot Rod! Anyway, I figgered it’d just be a Hot Rod toy. Meh!
But then the Argos catalog over in the great United Kingdom gave us photos, and there was this blue Bumblebee with a new head. This head has a visor that is lowered over the eyes. Now, this image had no label of any sort, so it could still be anybody, but I’m laying odds it’s a friggin’ real Hot Shot. Not the Hot Roddy kind, but a genuine JaAm-loving Hot Shot. He’s in his Cybertron colors since, well, y’know, he can’t be yellow for obvious reasons, but it’s definitely looking like a Hot Shot.
So I made sure I was the first guy to do fan art of him.
He’s also got flame detailing off of his front wheel wells so he also gives off a nice Nightbeat vibe!

Hope for sure this is the return of jAAm to a TF mainstream show.
I just picked up a First Edition Bumblebee specifically so that I could get Hot Shot when he comes out without having a duplicate mould.
Yeah, this is definitely good justification not to feel the need to get the Bumblebee version. That toy looks really nice in those colors too.

Him and Knock Out are my Prime must-haves.
I wonder if he’ll actually turn up in the show. I mean, he’d be less work to create than a completely new design…
I’m with DT, the show I can pass on, but if we get more than the 5 characters in the show, that would be sweet. I know you’re a Hot Shot fan Willis, but what the crap? What about Breakdown?? How are they going to pass on him, he’s in like 90 percent of the episodes so far.
Love hot shots cybertron colors. That’s a good choice to contrast bumblebee.
Its been scout, deluxe, voyager, ultra, leader, and supreme for as long as hot shot has had that colorscheme.
The new class designations are a change that the fandom is not going to adjust to overnight. But those who remember energon and beast wars have had to adjust to the current classifications anyway.
Digging this guy’s color scheme, but I gotta say the engineering of the head and shoulders on the 2nd Edition ‘bee mold still looks wonky too me. Shoulders too far forward, head too far back, maybe?
