This originally started in the 1980′s. The Soggies commercials were stopped and replaced with commercials featuring the Cap’n helping kids solve puzzles on the back of the cereal box so us “power ranger”/90′s generation kids didn’t know much about the Soggies.

Back in the original commercials for Capt. Crunch there were enemies known as the soggies. The Soggies were what your cereal turns into after soaking too much milk…soggy. So the capt. would fight against them because they would try to sog out his cereal. So when Cap.Crunch commercials ended it was confirmed that the Soggies were able to overthrow him and will soon rule over all the world’s cereal. *thunder crash* Here’s one of the original commercials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTYZfdDVJu8
