Its probably Prima. I hope it is. The thought of owning all of the original 13 in toy form makes me tingle with joy.
I’d be surprised if at this stage Hasbro lets BotCon make one of the Thirteen. Also, lets BotCon make one of the Thirteen a tiny, tiny Deluxe. I mean, I guarantee you that this toy will be the smallest of the entire set. It’s eensy.
Now that you’ve said that, you’ve guaranteed that there will be a Mini-Con involved, somehow. Maybe a PCC weapon-partner.
It could always be Kup, or Blurr. At least, those are the first “shoulder-wheel” types that jump to my mind when I look at that picture. Then again, the background picture could be just that, just background, in which case they’re all raging for nothing. XD
We just got new Blurr and Kup toys this year, so I don’t think they’re likely.
Considering I spent like two months hunting down Kup this year, I should have remembered that…
(my area is *bad* about getting new waves in a timely fashion.)

But the gauntlet has been thrown down! Pokemon versus My Little Pony for the destiny of the nation!
There are worse scourges than this Scourge.
I think the best BotCon exclusives are the themed sets like Shattered Glass or the Theft of the Golden disc. They’re an awesome set to own but by no means essential.

I’m a little confused by the last two panels. Is Seasonal Guy saying he does know what Ethan’s rambling about, or he doesn’t? Because “You probably have no idea what I’m rambling about” “Oh, I know” implies that he DOES, but Ethan’s next comment assumes that he DOESN’T. Or is that the joke? That Ethan is so used to people not understanding him that he completely ignores someone’s comment of agreement in favor of complaining that nobody understands him?
Sorry, I’m just not getting the punchline.
Well, Ethan never says what year or stores the Scourge came out in, so I’d assume Seasonal Guy actually does know his stuff.
To me it seemed pretty clear that he does know what Ethan’s talking about.
Ethan is just gone way too far into his rant too even register what Jimmy (that is his name, right?) is saying.
That is my name! And I do know what Ethan’s talking about, though I’m not sure if my Seasonal Guy character does…
Do I just have a way to overactive imagination or did we just see the first glimpse of a possible new love interest for Ethan. It’s just that he seems to be the opposite of Drew, so this could be an interesting contrast.
What the hell, I’m calling it now: Ethan + guy whose name we only know from the tags forever!

I liked RID Scourge.
Maybe because he made up for how Optimus Prime didn’t look like the actual Optimus Prime, transformed into a firetruck and-…oh, sorry. >_> I seem to have regressed back to the age of thirteen.
…But no, seriously, Scourge was prolly the last time we’d see something that looked like classic Optimus, and I liked it. Kind of a shame that I never got one as a kid…
…And now alongside Optimal Optimus and Unicron, this is the only other Transformers toy I’d hunt down on eBay.
scourge was a great toy, but RID optimus prime wasn’t half bad either. i thought he was really cool in all his modes, but my favorite was when he wasn’t combined with his base or ultra magnus.
Ah yes, Ultra Magnus…my brothers and I STILL haven’t figured out how to combine the two of them properly.

Yeah, Scourge does not seem at all likely. I’m guessing it’s Laser Ultra Magnus. Which would be super awesome.
A direct continuation of the JP Laser Magnus story would be pretty awesome…
Original Scourge is the only Scourge. The rest are weak in comparison.

While I couldn’t give two figs about Scourge, as a lousy poor foreigner who can’t get to any of these conventions or shell out secondary market prices, it is pretty annoying when cool characters are used as convention or club exclusives. Mainly a problem I’m having with GI Joe lately (Sgt Slaughter, Zarana, Dail-Tone, Claymore, Footloose).
When are we getting Firewall?
I admit, I’d be annoyed if Botcon gives us RTS Prime as Scourge, but as the Seekers proved, that doesn’t prevent Hasbro from releasing the character with a different deco. Heck, let Botcon release “Nemesis Prime”, and then we can still get Scourge at retail. What’s the difference? Nemesis Prime is just a lame black repaint. Scourge is the awesome fusion of Optimus Prime, Megatron and the unluckiest earth girl who ever lived. In black.

Oh, poor Ethan. Forced to read total strangers’ negative opinions of something he doesn’t think is a big deal himself. Of course if he doesn’t think it’s a big deal, why is he reading message board threads on the subject? Here’s a thought Ethan, if online fandom bothers you, close your browser, and from now on, just read the headlines stories on the Transformers sites you frequent, without getting into the responses.
Personally, I hope it is Scourge/Nemesis Prime. Why? Let BoCon do the easy and obvious repaint, while hopefully Hasbro will give RTS Prime a new head and release him as Motormaster or someone like that. I already have RID Scourge AND Laser Rod Prime anyway.

Scourge is not Nemesis Prime! Every other Optimus toy can be redecoed as “Nemesis Prime”, but this one needs to be Scourge, and preferably at retail (or at least a TFCC non-Botcon exclusive).
I’ll honestly have more nerd rage if the black TS Prime is named NP than if it’s released at Botcon.

My fellow Transfans can absolutely be ridiculous as hell. If you want RID Scourge (regardless of whether this new toy is or not), go to eBay. Inflated eBay prices are still going to be cheaper than a Botcon exclusive. Here, I’ll even provide the link to an “RID Scourge” search.

Crazy thought, but what if it’s just Optimus Prime repainted in G1 colors? For years people wanted Laser Optimus Prime painted in classic G1 colors, but it never happened. Maybe this is their way of doing that?

This was informative! I loved that Laser Optimus repaint and I kicked myself for never getting a version of it. I’ll have to go check out if Ebay is indeed lousy with these things.

I only managed to go to Botcon once, when it was here in my city. Had a guy tell me and my (now ex-) boyfriend that he couldn’t believe people really spoke with no accent outside of TV and movies.
Managed to find an “uncut” version of the animated Transformers movie – only one curse word though, so a minor disappointment. Was fun to attend, though.
And then it was Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus, and the fandom gave off a collective “What?”
