I think I lucked out when my real life got in the way of my web comic habit just long enough to miss this arc, go back and read it quickly just to catch up and get my WTF moment, and then go back again when I really had time so I could thoroughly enjoy this without having to wait until tomorrow.

See, while everyone else was either noticing or not noticing the "drunk Mike" tag, I decided to click on the "chalkboard" tag. And that was when I noticed what Mike was really doing there: Scratching out the arrow connecting himself and Amber.
And leaving in the arrow connecting Jacob and Amber, which Mike himself drew last October.
So Mike has figured out that, in the long run, Amber would be happier with Jacob (who, sex-addiction aside, seems like a nice guy) than she would be with him. Plus, it seems that Jacob is an obsessive collector like Ethan. Who Amber kinda wanted to be with before he came out.
So Mike figures that Jacob, being basically a hetero version of Ethan, is the best fit for Amber.
But sober Mike can't break up with her, because his asshole-ness is too deeply engrained to let him do something genuinely good. The only way he can do what's best for Amber is by doing it while drunk, because Drunk Mike is a nice guy.
And since he really does love her, drunk or sober, we kinda have Sober Mike and Drunk Mike working together to do what's best for Amber.

Super-effed-up, but also kinda sweet.

Just a note. The Brothers Grimm made a lot of the tales nicer. Using the phrase grimmification is a malapropism mostly because people generally came across the darker Grimm stories afterward. Most of the stories were actually darker before they published them. The same can probably even be said of Charles Perrault and so on and so forth. But laying blame to anyone is ridiculous on something that is so ingrained in several cultures.
