You're perhaps not seeing the issue because Ethan collects something that you're sympathetic to. Ignore the exact nature of Ethan's collection and imagine that Drew is looking at a relationship with someone who collects little dolls and takes up all the space in the house with tacky curios, leaving him living in irritating clutter with no room to express himself. Ever know anyone who's married to someone like that? Just because they're Transformers instead of Precious Moments figurines doesn't mean that it's not suffocating for Drew, especially if he's just not into them.
