Can someone just kill Robin now? She’s served her purpose, her presence does nothing more than cause damage, and a bloody and “tragic” death would help reassert the drama tag.
(and props to the people who noticed that, 24 hours after a “Kill female character!” wish, somebody posted a disturbingly similar post. Nobody really needs to die in Shortpacked, unless Ninja Rick is killing them. Because murder is always funny when Ninja Rick does it)
I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise for any shit I may have caused yesterday, along with any insult I may have caused you or anyone else and my over-statement.
In answer to your question, the reason she was previously my favourite was that I sympathised with and related to her in some ways. Watching her start out as a quiet little waif, then become a stronger person was wonderful, and a little wish fulfilling on my part. But for a while now I’ve had the impression she’s become too strong, perhaps even on a power trip. Seeing her demanding of someone and so easily giving up potential offspring was abhorrent to me. Perhaps demanding is the only way to deal with Galasso, and I know there was humour in the agreement, but I also know you write a coherent universe and such an agreement would be expected to be met.
Other characters have had or are on power trips, sure, but that’s usually consistent with the character and provides the humour. I think I now understand some people’s objection to Ethan’s power trip, but I didn’t mind that so much because it seemed more like he was forced into it by and for others, plus he simply wasn’t Amber.
My call for her death was way over the top and unnecessary. I don’t honestly want to see Amber die, nor anyone else. In fact I sometimes wonder/worry what ever happened to Evan.
To finish, I once again apologise.
TLDR: Sorry; I may be projecting; I guess I want what’s best for Amber; please don’t kill anyone; sorry again.
Demanding a promotion is often the only way to get it. If you ask, the boss won’t give it to you, and likely won’t believe you if you say you’ll walk without it. Demanding makes it clear how important this is to you. You notice, Amber was still meek until she geared up for the discussion.
And I doubt she’ll actually give up a child. She may be planning on having only one child, adopting, or even going childless. Or she might murder Galasso first. If she was actually giving up a kid, she’d have held out for a Manager position.
And another thing (I ranted yesterday) that isn’t restricted to this fandom, but is in fact everywhere:
Why is it that an annoyingly large group of people find it so difficult to grasp the concept that a character can lie? Amber is not definitely offering her second-born to Galasso. Here is a list of things she could actually be doing:
* Planning to cheat him out of it by only having one child
* Planning to cheat him out of it by taking advantage of the fact that she doesn’t want children
* Planning to cheat him out of it by simply not giving the crazy dude her kid at all
No. Keep your creepy, depressing ideas out of shortpacked. There are enough buckets of blood type comics out there without Shortpacked jumping the shark into cerberus syndrome.
TEN?
The five mains in the title header.
6. Faz
7. Ninja Rick
8. The new Asian Guy whose name I can’t be bothered to remember.
9. Does Galasso count?
Who’s the 10th? (Or possibly 9th and 10th if Galasso doesn’t count as floor staff?
8 = KEN. You are forgiven because he’s still new to the cast and we don’t see him all that often. Maybe he’ll mop the floor in the plushies aisle and Robin will slip and skid into the tree fort display models so she can’t prevent his flashback that will run two weeks of gag strip time later on in the year. *whew*
This friendship (Leslie and Amber) is rather cute and should be good to pull both characters out of their relationship pigeon holes. It will leave Robin completely on the outs with pretty much everybody though, I guess that’s to be expected after what happened though.
Genuine, realistic, casual, heartwarming friendship is rare in fiction. usually they fall into the categories of comedic foil/bro-buddies (if male), comedic foil/shrieking harpies (if female), or instant romantic interest (if mixed).
In the realm of fanfiction, nobody can be friendly without having sex. This cheapens interpersonal relationships, and even cheapens sexuality in general, whether hetero or homo. So yeah, it’s nice to see those two just chat (and squeal and celebrate) like normal people.
Robin and Ethan seem to be getting along rather well since the split. The Shorties don’t seem to subscribe to the practice of showing support for one friend by ostracizing another, no matter how easy to judge their actions are. Even Faz– Ethan doesn’t hate him because of Amber. Ethan hates him because he’s Faz.
Yeah, like I said, some people are just incapable of imagining friendship that doesn’t include sex. Or maybe they think that all gay people are sex-crazy molestors.
“They talked to each other! They must be banging!”
“Well, Leslie is gay, so obviously she’s trying to grope Amber!”
the funny thing is, when you point this out to them, they call YOU a “homophobe.”
Uhm. Wow, Leslie, way to not be a mature adult and try to get over it. And good for you Amber, for pointing out that you can’t always adjust things so that one person gets their exact wish. Nice touch on the friendship moment though, Mister Willis. =D
>.< huh…i feel both sorry for Robin and at the same time…annoyed with her. I mean she's done a lot for the world. Brought world peace, and helped stop the world from being destroyed by aliens. But it would be pretty interesting if she suddenly…got killed…I don't know in some way, and leslie realized how much of a idiot she was. That would bring back the sad, but interesting memories we love from It's Walky!…eh…EH….nobody? Come on Dave…at least reply to this. …sad face. -walks away into the sunset*
Yeah…. We can’t kill off Robin. She pulled the Drama! tag. She has to live with it. No one else will obsess over it if she doesn’t. Besides, this is very Grecian tragedy. Except there aren’t mass killings/suicides.
Uh oh.
Better Robin than Faz anyday.
I love your screen name.
intimately.
OH SHIT!
Well, maybe Leslie’s willing to talk it out? Seems unlikely with her reaction but hopefully this will lead to her and Robin being somewhat friendly.
the word bubble says “massage the schedules” but the eyes are saying something different
panel 5 art with panel 6 caption bubble.
Now you will never experience that milky high. It’s really something spectacular, to get that first post.
Not ten minutes as manager and Amber is already getting glares from the employees!
How much you wanna bet that Faz’ “sick leave” started with a Mike attack?
Panel 2 freaked me out a little – Amber looks disturbingly Fazish (Fazlike? Fazic?). Unfortunate family resemblance FTW!
“Amber is victorious.”
“The Amber-lanche is unstoppable.”
Haha Amber-lanche
Mike massaged your mom’s schedule. Luckily it only consisted of “Have sex with random guys for a nickel”.
Because she’s a prostitute.
Can someone just kill Robin now? She’s served her purpose, her presence does nothing more than cause damage, and a bloody and “tragic” death would help reassert the drama tag.
I am not deleting this comment for posterity. It proves a point I made in yesterday’s comments thread.
Shortpacked: BUCKETS OF BLOOD
Kill Faz!
Kill Galasso!
(Wait, galasso has clone backups, doesn’t he?)
Kill the Wabbit!
WHAT HAVE DONE?
I KILLED THE WABBIT!!!!!
(and props to the people who noticed that, 24 hours after a “Kill female character!” wish, somebody posted a disturbingly similar post. Nobody really needs to die in Shortpacked, unless Ninja Rick is killing them. Because murder is always funny when Ninja Rick does it)
In other words, “it was a social experiment”?
Well no, not a social experiment. A joke that was kind of a dick move:-P
Do not underestimate a man who has clones at his disposal.
Do NOT kill Faz. Remember, Faz is awesome.

Clarification of the inside of my mind:
Asking for promotion=great! (and definitely not a power trip)
Demanding promotion=bad
Child for promotion=horrible

Is it really so difficult to grasp?
Whoops, that wasn’t meant as a reply.
I love Robyn. That’d make me sad.
No. Keep your creepy, depressing ideas out of shortpacked. There are enough buckets of blood type comics out there without Shortpacked jumping the shark into cerberus syndrome.
Dude, he was joking.
Only ten people? Willis, talk to Gallasso for me. I could use a new job. And help avoid awkward reunions.
I shall distract your attention to this Amber drawing:

Ultra Car.

The tenth is the mom who works register.
oh register mom. i miss her dearly.

You’re right- there isn’t much of a clique mentality here.
What, nobody is making a comment about it looking like Leslie is poking Amber’s breast in panels 4 & 5. I can’t be the only one to see that.
If you made a panel with Leslie from panel 4 and Amber from panel 5 and deleted Robin altogether, it would be a great “bad touch” scene.
See what I jus said about how it’s nice to see an ordinary friendship. Then compare it to “Bahahah! They touched! MUST BE SEXY!”
You know, lesbians are not uncontrollable grope-monsters.
DC and Marvel get sales spikes when they kill characters. Not sure if that translates into anything for a web comic though.
Quick Photoshop: Leslie from panel 4 and Amber from panel 5.
“bad touch” scene.
This is just creepy.

Faz of all people took a sick day? something’s fishy…
Of course Faz is sick. He wants to “make with the sexings” with his half-sister Amber.
…the shippers are out in full force today, I see.

Indeed, it’s been established a few times that Leslie doesn’t find Amber sexually attractive. (She prefers the ditzy athletic types.)

Five bucks says Faz’s “sick day” consists of stalking Amber. And yes, I realize the irony of this comment & my avatar.
