Yup. You get one guess why I actively enjoy when Ethan goes on a "wall of text" rant about some articulated model.

Dear Ali: Hi! If I were in the mood to disrespect a cartoonist for their representation of bicycles, I'd be doing it on Yehuda Moon. As a confessed bike nut, I am dismayed at "big box" and "toy store" bikes, and it isn't the frames, components, or bike construction that's the REAL issue. It's the assembly. Even BMX-looking little kid bikes will, at some point, be ridden at speed, in dense traffic (I include bike path, beach boardwalk, and municipal park other cyclist, scooter rider, roller blader, roller skater, dog walker, joggers, necking couples, baby stroller, stray cat, unintimidated pigeons clustering around a food spill and the occasional misjudging of distance between oneself and that thorny bush so common to beginning riders as "dense traffic). In those circumstances, do you really want the little ones on bikes, with or without training wheels, that have drive trains and brakes assembled by people who may have no training at all? As in "What does this screw and stuff do?" "That's the bolt that holds the coaster brake arm in one place." "Do I need to put it in?"

If you've ever tried explaining how derailleur shifting systems, or even internal gear hub systems, work to beginning cycling adults, you'd prefer the smaller set start on single speed bikes too. Learning how to ride and work with other road users is way more important than big distance and speed when starting out. I also wouldn't disrespect BMX style bikes, or even beach cruisers -- they are performance machines, although the non-professional riding racers are built more for dependability and durability than light weight. When you're Just Riding Along, and paying for your own ride, reliability is a huge part of performance. There are no Neutral Support vehicles in real life. Besides, although not perfectly adapted for distance stuff, I have seen people on BMXs and beach cruisers doing JUST FINE on the 25 mile "Bike the Bay" ride and the 20 mile "Midnight Madness" ride. BTW, if you ever do ride "Midnight Madness" held in August in San Diego, please be advised, for your own safety, to keep some distance between yourself and other riders who a) have open alcohol containers, b) open flames, c) a generator on a trailer to power their sound system, or d) all of the above.

On the other hand, I believe bike bells, like bike lights and bike carrying racks, are accessories that shouldn't BE "accessories" -- they should come with the bike. And streamers are underappreciated by bicycle cognoscenti, especially compared to the new leather saddles made in UK fetishism. No, really, the aftermarket in fancy parts is seeing some production stuff finished in copper plate to match the rivets on some of the more ostentatious Brooks saddles.

Please excuse me -- I'm in a really foul mood because my commute bike is in the shop due to a City of San Diego pothole that split the rear rim. As in the bike shop guys couldn't figure out how I'd managed to do that and stay on the bike until I mentioned I'd had a load of groceries AND I had a coffee mug eject all the way across the street. I'll be taking photos and putting in a claim when I get an estimate on relacing the wheel with a new double wall rim.

I agree with there being too much of a Nemesis Prime vibe coming from it. This is mainly due to the fact that every Optimus mold ends up later being repainted black and called Nemesis Prime (if not in USA, at least in Japan). So after years of us being told that black Optimus is Nemesis, now they give us a black Optimus repaint and want us to consider it someone other than Nemesis????

Wreck-Gar had potential in that his alt mode had a cab and trailer, his robot chest looked better, he could be more gray and he would have swords.

Am I disappointed? No. Why? Because I wasn't intending to get them.
