Ah! You know what? I remember the comic, but when I saw that, I just thought it was support beams or walls instead of an escalator. Never considered a second floor. Just means Willis is a regular Frank Gehry!

Perhaps someone informed him that Conquest is a daughter, but he needs a son to inherit his empire. That could explain a lot.

He's been shown to be aware that some people are boys and some people are girls. He just doesn't know the specifics of what makes someone a boy or girl, and what the implications and applications of this are.

Similar to how a young boy will accurately claim that the person with long hair wearing a dress is a girl. Ask him why though and his reasoning will only go as far as what was listed. Ask him why two boys can't have a baby and his response will vary from bewilderment, remarks about how boys can't marry eachother, mentioning that the mommy gives birth and not the daddy, or other such displays of ignorance depending on his background.

Gallaso seems to be in the same boat. You can't be exposed to any level of human interaction without becoming aware that there are genders. Plus, if he's speaking English then it would just be confusing if he used gender neutral speech exclusively. The language isn't suited for that. That's still only a very shallow surface understanding of the concept though.

Hasn't Galasso referred to Conquest as his daughter on more than one occasion? Doesn't that denote some knowledge of gender?

On the other hand, he might just think all offspring are called "daughters".
