Sometimes I just buy toys because of their name.
Like Sergeant Chaos here. He’s part of a smaller-scale “Human Alliance” class of Transformers toys. The old Human Alliance stuff stuck to established live-action movie characters like Sam and Mikaela and Epps, but this new smaller stuff is expanding out into new human characters to pair with new Transformers characters. The humans have awesome totally-inconspicuous names like “Major Tungsten” and “Private Dedcliff” and “Sergeant Noble” and… Sergeant Chaos. Who is a secret traitor to the Autobots and their Human Alliance! He’s paired with Icepick, who’s a Decepticon who hangs with Chaos to get his awesome stolen intel.
Sergeant Chaos! I like to think that Chaos is his real last name and that he slowly worked his way up the ranks, from Private Chaos to Private First Class Chaos to Corporal Chaos and so on. Maybe his first name is Frank? Who knows.
Anyway, the absurdity appeals to me. Plus his Decepticon partner transforms into a snowmobile. A snowmobile! So Sergeant Chaos is mine. I boughts him.
The Sergeant Chaos figure itself has some articulation, despite its tiny size. The head turns, of course, plus there’s universal joints at the hips and shoulders, and bending knees and rotating wrists. No elbows, but they’re not really necessary.
Icepick the snowmobile is okay. I don’t have much to say about him. I keep him in snowmobile mode, mostly. He’s just Sergeant Chaos’s snowmobile, as far as I’m concerned. Icepick also has a third attack mode where you put the treads in front and split them up into a huge sawblade. There’s a 5mm peg at the back so larger toys can hold him as a weapon.
Sergeant Chaos.

Between the name, the costume, and the weaponized snowmobile, I was surprised that there wasn’t a Cobra emblem somewhere in here.
My thoughts exactly! This set would make a lot more sense if they went for the full crossover.
I like this set a lot, and the small HA sets in general, too.
Are you gonna get the two pack with Sgt. Chaos/Icepick and Sideswipe? On the up side it’s got Unmasked Chaos and apparently Autobot Alliance disguised Icepick. On the downside it’s got the fairly terrible HA Sideswipe again. I’m torn on whether the part I want is worth the other half.
I’m satisfied with the Sergeant Chaos I have. Ifigger I can skip the other one that comes with the crappy toy.
Definitely agreeing with you on the awesomeness of these sets. It’s like after a couple decades they FINALLY figured out a way to take the basic premise that spawned Action Masters somewhere interesting.
It’s too bad there is not a Leader Megatron. He would have been awesome with a Chainsaw on his arm.
And with Sergeant Chaos RIDING the chainsaw on his arm!
Maybe Sergeant Chaos can get a battlefield commission to an officer rank.
Major Chaos anyone?
Someone has to say it, so… At the peak of his career: General Chaos.
I am sad this review did not include a single “Get your FreCon” joke.
You are not alone! You know Sergeant Chaos likes to get his Frecon.
. . . So, how does Icepick look with a G.I. Joe riding him? Does the scale match any better than with his Hobbit Alliance partner?
Not too bad with a Joe. A bit small, kinda a mini-jetski type snow mobile, but totally the sort of thing Cobra would deploy from a larger vehicle. It’s bigger than Zartan’s swamp skier.
I’d say it fits joes at least as well as HAs, maybe better.
His real name is Butters Stotch.
He started out as Professor Chaos before moving up the ranks.
Well played sir, well played.
The weird thing about Icepick is that he’s got these big, wide, childbearing hips.
Kinda makes me wonder why they don’t come out with a new Joe/Transformers crossover line. All the packs could come with a Joe/Autobot and a Decepticon/Cobra. And all the vehicle modes would have some way to interact with or be ridden by their soldier counterparts. That’d be fun.
Fans have been suggesting this forever. Last we heard, I think, the Joe team was sorta interested, but the Transformer folks not so much. Sadly. It sounds awesome to me.
I don’t know, looking at these Human Alliance figures I get the impression that maybe they’re building up a palette of molds that Joes could be be built from. I’m looking at Major Tungsten right now, and the sculpt and articulation are jaw-dropping, considering this is a 2.5 inch figure. Even without a crossover the Joe team could borrow these molds and engineering wholesale and produce multi-packs of mini-Joes, and they’d be a product worth buying.
