I never got the original Laser Optimus Prime (only knew it from tfwiki), but recently, I bought RtS Optimus (which was somewhat of a miracle to me – I live in Germany, and Transformes aren’t that popular here aside the movies).
Though I can’t compare him to his ancestor, I really, really love this guy. He’s awesome.

He ships with Wreck-Gar, Perceptor, and Bumblebee, all of whom are unmistakably G1 guys. Pretty sure he’s a G1 Optimus, especially since he’s a dead ringer for a preexisting toy from the 90s.

He had a comic book picture of himself burning down a forest on his trailer, and his truck had red blurring into black, but he didn’t have the generic biker-looking flames (for lack of a better description). And the sword looks like Movie Optimus’ flip-out blades.

I’m not complaining or saying “Movie Op sucks and this is a bad thing,” I’m just saying this is what it looks like to me. Frankly, I think Movie Op having a G2 mode is quirky idea.

I realize this is likely a G1 Optimus figure (it’s where the Wiki categorizes it), but with the ambiguity of the Yellow Box line, and the Prime Continuity’s decision to make characters an amalgamation of their past selves, he might not be tied down to a specific Optimus. Just wacky conjecture, here
