Hey, Shortpacked! Book 4 is now available for purchase in the store!
I got my JLU 7-pack in the mail today, signifying the end of that toyline. Which means it’s time to finally take stock of all of the duplicate Batmen, Supermen, and whoevers that I amassed in the past decade in the quest to get dudes they were packed with.
When I am done, I plan to just sell them all on eBay for probably five dollars. In the meantime, some preliminary photography. For example:
1) Man, I am surprised I can only find one extra Martian Manhunter. Clearly I must have more somewhere! Did I really only ever end up with just one extra of him? It seems impossible.
2) My original bin of extras was packed in SUPER TIGHT. Like, creating-diamonds-out-of-coal-tight. Related to this tidbit is an observation on how soft and goopy Giganta’s dress is. Whoops.
2a) (Not entirely limited to Giganta’s dress. I had one Superman’s cape embedded in the neck of another.)
3) Woo, “I can breathe in space” Batman!
4) Woo, “Atmosphere-destroying missile” Superman!
5) A sweet ass Scuba Flash. I have a whole team of scuba guys, probably came with an Aquaman, but Flash is the sharpest of those.
There’s a chance there might be more JLU stuff, but only because some of their 3-packs (*coughcoughcoughVandalSavagecoughcough*) never made it to retail and Matty’s hinted at maybe offering those online maybe. Maybe.
But meh. It happens, it happens. Stick a fork in this toyline.

Much and all as I’ve loved the line, everything since they released the Question has been gravy for me. Nice to have, but not essential.
Somehow there are still about twenty official League members who have figures out that I don’t own. (I really should have bought Waverider when he was warming pegs all over the place.)
I’m not surprised you only have one Martian Manhunter. I got into toy collecting way, way late in this series’ lifespan and was resultingly unable to find a single one because of how rarely they got packaged with other characters in later waves. Meanwhile, I have a decent sized handful of Batmans and Supermans.
Also, did you notice how hard Speedy’s legs are in that seven pack? They’re seriously the hardest plastic of any of the guys in my entire collection.
Vandal Savage, Mongul, Toyman…those were the three primary villains who didn’t make it. I do recall a Toyman proto popping up on Ebay last year, though…so at least he may have been tooled up. Would have been nice to get that Savage Earth Superman too… =8^/
Does anyone have any specific references to Mattel’s hints on releasing those other figures? Finding reliable JLU info these days has been maddening. =X^/
I always sold my extra figures to my local comic shop. They would then sell them to little kids for a buck or two. =8^)
Wow, Gigantas’ dress is SO goopy that she’s actually having a wardrobe malfunction on top of apparently wearing bubble-gum as a dress!
Wow, you also have a T-Sub, awesome.
Olympus Digital Camera.
My friend had one of these MOC and he defiled it by adding a word caption bubble “I’m Batman, and I can Breath in Space” It may no longer be MOC, but it is ten times the worth in our hearts.
