BotCon‘s continued to roll out the exclusive toy previews. Last week we got Breakdown, who is roughly the fifteen millionth Breakdown BotCon has done in its time. But the first in G1 colors! And the first that referenced his head design in the original cartoon, which was entirely different from the one his toy had.
But I’ve sort of hit Breakdown saturation, so I didn’t blog about it.
This week, though, I’m excited again. BotCon’s revealed their third toy, Drag Strip, who’s also in original Drag Strip colors. …as a girl. Ha ha ha. She’s been female-ized! There’s only so many sports car molds in the Animated toyline, see, and Arcee happened to be one of them. So this is a thing that has happened.
I’m actually all for it. Arcee’s a great mold, and the Transformers universe can use more chicks. Especially yellow ones. The BotCon Twitter feed seems to suggest she’s characterized as Kill Bill’s the Black Mamba, who was also a sword-wielding yellow chick. Watch out for your eyes!
NOTE: No, you are not the first and/or only person to come here and make a HUR HUR DRAG AMIRITE?? joke. They tire me. They will be deleted. If you want them, try every single other Transformers forum or blog on the face of the planet.

That settles it. Some way, some how I AM getting the animated Stunticons, expense and ridiculous postage be damned.

I remain utterly convinced that that mold’s car form was based on Chromedome, and will mention it whenever relevant because there’s something wrong with me.
I just wish there was a way to make this combine into animated Menasor.

But to be honest, I think she looks quite good in those colors. And we all knew that one of the Stunticons would end up using her mold. There are only so many sports cars in Animated, and Jazz and Rodimus already have been used. My guess for Wildrider is Blurr.
I’m honestly guessing Lockdown for Wildrider.
Blurr’s getting a different TFCC toy this year (Cheetor) and looking at Wildrider’s G1 character model, a TFA version of that head will work well on Lockdown’s body. Plus, the name would definitely fit him well.
(After all, this is Derrick. He’ll probably be basing it more on the cartoon head than the toy head)
Good point here. Unless Wildrider and Cheetor have some connection, they won’t reuse the mold ( didn’t know about Cheetor getting a figure aswell )
And to be honest, totally forgot about Lockdown counting as a sportscar aswell.
Call me crazy but I’d go with Prowl! ‘Wildrider’ sounds more like a motorcycle name to me.

You could buy the set without going to Botcon, which is cheaper than both options
I’m on record as not being terribly fond of yellow, but I gotta say, that’s kind of a nice deco. Probably the purple that does it.

For the longest time I’ve thought Drag Strip’s name was sus. I mean, I know it’s a racing term, but come on? Even as a kid I thought it was pretty damn odd (yeah, I knew about drag queens and strippers from an early age. Saw Rocky Horror Picture Show when I was about 4, and Priscilla Queen of the Desert when I was about 12 or 13).
So really, this is sort of a long time coming for me.

I’m going to show that I may be the least TF-geeky person reading this comic, but, while the toy is interesting, I was more jazzed by the song-reference in the post title. I LOVE that song, and since it’s the “New Bumblebee” theme, it can’t be wrong, right?
While the toy does look nice, it does seem that they picked the wrong character to get gender-flipped. That’s not the type of thing the Internet handles well. Even the awesome of Uma Thurmech doesn’t make reading those jokes worth it.
