Oh man. I was just lookin’ through this guy’s DeviantArt account a few days ago.
Clement Sauvé is the character designer on G.I. Joe Renegades, the new show currently running on The Hub. He was only 33, and he died of cancer on Wednesday. That really blows. I’ll be watching the new episode on Saturday (and the rest of the season) with a heavy heart.
The visual style was a huge part of why the new series appealed to me. It’s sad that we’re not only losing the dude, but also the potential for more of his work.

The guy was an amazing talent, and that’s far too early for anyone to go (especially like that). He’d also done some great G.I. JOE covers in the DDP days.
Man…always sucks when someone dies young. I’ve not read (or watched) a lot of his stuff, but he was quite good…
It’s a pity, all around.
Son of a… man, that just… damn. There’s always this unique kind of sting when a young talent goes. We’ll never know what else he may have given to the world. I guess it’s a testament to someone’s life when complete strangers can read of their death and still acutely feel the tragedy.
Aw man! That sucks. I remember seeing him at Comic Con. Seemed like a cool guy. Cancer? I’m 31! But I’m invincible, right?
I’ve looked at his art, and I don’t see how his visual style has even made it into the show.. I love his art.. I hate the art on the show (looks like the old Men in Black series).. confusing.. sucks he’s dead.
This came as a shock, I met Clément once briefly at a Comic Book Festival in Quebec, He was a really friendly guy, real aproachable, we only chatted for 20 mins while he signed my book, but we chatted about comics the whole time.
I’m really Saddened by this, I had always hoped our paths would cross again someday.
Ah, that’s a shame. I’ve heard some Joe fans weren’t thrilled with the new designs. I like them. And there’s no denying he’s talented. Man, he was younger than I am. Sad.
