Man, earliest BotCon reveal ever, or what? Sure feels like it.

The theme for this year’s BotCon convention figure set has been revealed, and everything’s coming up Animated. You thought it was all over, didn’t you? Ha! Animated will never die! It’s like the bad guy in the horror film who always springs up that one last time after you thought he was dead, except in this case instead of a serial murderer or whatever, it’s a beautiful person of the gender of your choice who will have sex with you all night long.
It looks like the box set is going to be strictly Animated-style Stunticons, and the first one we get to see is Dead End, who’s a redeco of Animated Jazz. He is, according to Animated character designer Derrick Wyatt, who was responsible for helping put this together, a “depressingly dour beat poet.” Which is pretty awesome. And explains the facial hair he’s rocking.
Guess we’ll be seeing Motormaster, Drag Strip, Wildrider, and Breakdown some time soon. (Man, we got a Breakdown last year, too…) Now we get to speculate who’s going to get made from whom.
Well Dragstrip isn’t going to be from Blurr as the Club is already doing a yellow Blurr this year >cough-Cheetor-cough<
They used Universe Sunstreaker as Club exclusive Counterpunch and Botcon exclusive Breakdown last year, so they could use Blurr twice.
Yes, but those two weren’t the same color.
The key word there was “YELLOW.” Yes, the club did two of the same mold last year, but they sure weren’t the same colors.

Motormaster is kind of obvious. They should have one of them based on Swindle, since an SUV plays into their general theme.

Honestly, you could also go with Voyager Bulkhead, easily… and if they decide to go with 4 deluxes for the 4 cars, they might bite the bullet and go with a leader-class Ultra Magnus.
How awesome would it be if they got Peter Cullen to dust off his D&D Venger voice, to record some things for Motormaster’s sound chip? #overlyhopeful
Ultra Magnus would make a better Onslaught if they wanted to do the rest of the Combaticons Animated-style. (I wonder if Swindle having an official existence makes that more or less likely…)
I meant obvious in the sense that Optimus Prime has, in G1, impersonated Motormaster’s alt mode. So Motormaster as a Prime redeco is pretty clear cut.
(If they use Wreck-Gar, I’d be fine with that.)

Wildrider from Arcee, because everyone knows female drivers are crazy (KIDDING!).

I’ve never bought a Botcon toy, because I live in Australia and the post-con internet prices are crazy. But I MUST HAVE THESE. I love Stunticons, I love Animated, and I love that Dead End is a beat poet.
Didn’t Botcon state last year that they’d never, ever, ever, ever, EVER do Transformers Animated? I even recall being bummed about it.

Wreck-gar would make a terrible robot-mode Motormaster, even with a new headmold. Waaay too lanky.

If I had my way Dragstrip/would be Arcee and female in animated just cause I like Arcee’s alt mode best for a racer.

let me switch that and say Dragstrip should be Rodimus cause that mold would look nice in yellow, and then Breakdown should be lockdown because it would be funny for Breakdown to have the huge tough body.
Animated Stunticons are cool. I guess.
I think 2 of remaining cars are likely to be repaints of Rodimus and Blurr. Given the comment regarding Transtech Cheetor, I could see Blurr as Breakdown and Rodimus as Wildrider (or vice versa). Which leaves Drag Strip. I’m thinking Arcee, given Lockdown is too big and Bumblebee the wrong shape.
Motormaster could be Bulkhead, which makes more sense than yet another Black Optimus Prime redeco. Although there is a picture in the Almanac of a purple and black Optimus Prime… Wreck Gar could also be done. In any case, I’m sure he’ll have a new face.
But what about add-ons? I’m thinking Cliffjumper! Hoping for Slipstream and Ramjet! How about Kup from Sentinel Prime? Ironhide done up as Autoroller build figures? I drool!
