This thread went exactly where I was hoping it would without my having to intervene! I still will though, because the internet makes me think my opinions are important. I don't like BBT because they write to an audience. Their whole purpose is to reference other things that people like to steal some sort of contact fandom, then meander about, rehashing derivative sitcom tropes as long as they can to get syndication and keep the paychecks rolling in. Community has a story to tell, it has direction, and it has far more original characters.

Pretty much the same for me. I get the jokes. I just think that 90 percent of them aren't funny. And that the whole series in general is simply trying to play the geek and nerd card in an attempt to be hip, in and something people want to buy.

I'm Spartacus! ...

... I mean Aspergian. Second Generation Aspergian actually, so I win.
Also I've been using the more general term "Changeling" more often lately... as a delightful callback to more primitive times when our differences would be blamed on baby-snatching fairies as an excuse for infanticide by mundie parents, and also due to growing negative stigma online.

I CAN look people in the eyes, but only do so when I want to creep them out.
Otherwise, I don't. I communicate vocally, so eye-contact isn't necessary. Neither is voice-tone modulation. All I need to communicate can be done by context, choice of vocabulary, and pop-culture references... like it is on the Internet.
The crude animal-communication of mundies is beneath me.
