Zorian is right, technically. But that’s not how the average Joe would classify himself.
Speaking as one of both Jewish descent and religion, usually the distinction is whether you refer to yourself as “Jewish” or “A Jew”. “Jewish” denotes ancestry. while “A Jew” indicates religion.
I’m not sure when this distinction popped up, since they used to make the same thing, but it does. It’s interesting, and I wish I knew more about when and why the distinction became pronounced.

The Theory of Evolution is true. You have but to look in nature, present day, to see this. Human beings are primates, we are members of the lines of great apes. If you don’t believe the theory, at least believe what your eyes tell you when you compare apes and humans. As for the Native Americans, and other natives in the Americas, I am not sure where they originated exactly, but they are thought to have come across the Bearing Straits, from Asia and Asia Minor/Russian area. “Black” can indeed be offensive, entirely as a matter of who’s decided to be insulted by it. Mainly because within the Black community, there continues to be a heated internal race-mixing war where the “depth” of one’s “blackness” is used as a means of striation, the blacker the “better”.

Persons who are lighter-skinned, because one or more of their ancestors were white or Asian, are often ostracised…so, there are elitists who are insulted that someone who’s not as black as they are get called black, and some folks with lighter skin who feel insulted because they’re reminded of the false stigma.

I’m also from England. I never got any memo that Oriental was a rascist term. Considering that I only know one person of Japanese descent (It may be a long phrase, but it’s as PC as it’s possible to get). I’ll have to ask her if she considers it offensive. (Unless she’s actually of Chinese descent. Or Thai, or Korean or something else I haven’t thought of).

As far as I know, the only truly offensive words are Nigger and Paki, since there are no circumstances where they’re either appropriate or accidental. As long as you stay away from those, most people won’t give a ****. And if they do, apologise, explain and don’t do it again.
