Although it could be that she’s just realizing that the ironic bit is that SHE is her father in the relationship, since she’s the only one who’s physically assaulted the other…
I agree that they need to stay together, but more because I think they’re both so fucked up that no one else would be a good match. Amber needs an asshole like her father, but one that she has power over and who deserves everything she does to him. Mike needs someone willing to force him to be in a non-evil relationship. No one else in the world could pull off a relationship with either of these 2 horrible, horrible people.
They could also just become better people first.
I disagree. Mike deserves better. Yes, he’s an asshole. He still still deserves better than Amber.
Mike is nothing like Amber’s father, Mike is in a league all his own.

What’s the rule? Any sarcastic comment on the Internet will confuse people because someone, somewhere out there, has been that stupid before.

I enjoy the complexity of the Mike/Amber relationship very much. So much that I have a print of the “I love you” strip on my wall.
But anyway.

Well, he’s a ‘I’m gonna beat you up’ sober, so….
actually, not so much. In this relationship, Amber’s been the only physically abusive one.
He’s only “I’m gonna beat you up” if the mindgames don’t work. He probably can’t do mindgames drunk.
Dude, if you really were drunk then one out of two things would have happened.
1. They’d all look like mr messy.
2. They’d all be having an orgy.
Actually, if you were really hammered, the panel would be a bunch of mr messys having an orgy.
They do look messy! Amber’s Mom’s face is all bleargh. And Amber’s hairline is a little off. She’s not nearly as adorable as usual.
They can’t have an orgy – the storyline title *explicitly* says otherwise.
Nuh-uh. There are plenty of orgy combinations that don’t involve Mike fucking Stacy.
I don’t think Amber is worried that she’s marrying a jackass like her father. She’s worried that she IS a jackass like her father.
Consider: She blackmailed him into the relationship, and as soon as it looked like she was losing control she decked him.
She’s hiding who Mike is because if her mother knew, she’d also have to be told who Amber is.
I like this logic.
This could really make for the most awesomely messed up LIFETIME movie. I can picture the title now, “Keep ‘Em Coming: One woman’s quest to find the perfect man (by getting him drunk off his ass).” I’m really not sure is this would be a positive story or a warning tale to other woman…
It’s a Lifetime movie. Of course it will be a warning to other women.

god no, david does too. thats why hes makeing a huge line of story’s to slowly fk theyre relationship to the point of ALMOST breaking up THEN getting one big panel to make theyre relationship stronger than ever.

I’m beginning to suspect that Mike secretly enjoys being nice to people. It’s only when he’s drunk that he has the courage to let people see it. After all, if they saw him being nice then they might think of him as less invincible superhero and more of a human being, i.e. vulnerable.

I must admit to being a bit confused as to why you tagged this strip with Mike, when you also tagged it with Drunk Mike. Are all Drunk Mike strips also Mike strips?

No, there is Drunk Mike, Drunk Mike/Mike, and Mike.
I’ll assume the intersection means that he is fucking with Amber and Stacy somehow in this strip.
Haha, Mike’s not really anything like Amber’s father. Amber’s dad was condescending and controlling, while Mike openly doesn’t care what Amber does. If Amber had hit her dad instead of Mike, she’d probably have gotten a grevious injury rather than a creepy smile.
I wouldn’t say Mike is like Amber’s father only because Mike is completely open about his assholeness.
Not to mention, Mike’s asshole behavior is more showmanship/art that it is abusive. I mean Mike doesn’t spent years bullying someone with insults, manipulation and cruel remarks, so as to force them into a mold that he wants them to be. He’s more like a hit and run driver. Her acts like an asshole, enjoys the chaos he’s caused, and then that’s it. Its rarely brought up again, he doesn’t do it because he thinks everyone should be what he wants them to be or anything like what we saw with Amber’s father.
True, I won’t want to deal with Mike’s form of asshole behavior, anymore than I would Amber’s father…

it actually makes perfect sense. I had said i like the outwardly asshole, inwardly sweet and loving kind of guy like Mike. I should amend that to say, outwardly asshole to others maybe, but to me, sweet and loving

you know, I love asshole Mike, he is one of my favorite characters in this strip. However, I also really like nice, sweet Mike as well. I don’t know, I guess I go for the guys who are outwardly assholes, but deep down are sweet. And obviously Mike is, because when you’re drunk, a lot of times your true nature shows.
Whoa, I just realized the subtext of what Mike is saying in the 3rd panel.
I am suddenly curious as what Mike would be like as a father. . .
