I’m going to sound very obtuse saying this, but – I think the joke may have potentially flown over my head this time. Is the humor in the fact that Ethan is harping on the man for saying stuff, by saying people shouldn’t get harped on for saying stuff?
I’m going to continue assuming Iron Man 2 will rock so hard, because all the evidence supports that theory. As soon as I get evidence to the contrary, I will have to adjust the theory.
Yes, but it’s a Marvel Second Installment. Those have a tendency to rock even harder than the original offerings*; the only exception that comes to mind was a follow-up** to a movie that failed to rock in the first place***.
Now, when Iron Man THREE comes out, we may have a problem.****
*X2, Spider-Man 2
** Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
*** Fantastic Four
**** X-Men 3, Spider-Man 3
Iron Man 2 does indeed kick ass, though I demand more War Machine next time ’round. Other than a *minor* plothole (which might not even really be a hole) the movie’s easily as good as the first.
The ‘hole’?
How does Ivan/Whiplash know Stark will be racing when it seems like the decision to drive was impromptu?
A more dedicated and educated nerd can rationalize this far better than I.
As someone who reviews movies and TV, I get this occasionally. I’ve actually gotten yelled at for disliking something with the response, “KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF NEXT TIME!” … um, dude, I write reviews for a tv review site… it’s kind of par for the course. Also, that was in response to my review of the live-action Fairly Oddparents movie. The same commenter told me that a million people were going to boycott my site. Yeeah.
Sometimes, It’s fun to be a grammar Nazi in the real world.
Good sir, you are now my new favorite commenter. A Tom Baker avatar, and a cool username? Awesome. Purely awesome.
It’s me … ah, oh noes, Grammar Dalek …
Hey, i just realised, we’ve never seen Ethan’s parents. Is this guy his dad? Or an uncle?
We’ve heard his mom’s voice once. And seen him on the phone with her another time.

Don’t read this if you don’t want a joke explained spoiler warning:
Ethan harps on people constantly for things they say. Granted, the things people say in the store are pretty stupid, but still.
-end unseemly explanation of a joke-
Did Even die?
It’s Wikipedia Marx. Last night he shot an elephant in his pyjamas.[1]
What it was doing in his pyjamas we may never know ~ needs citation.

I was just complaing to someone on IMDb who was saying how great the new Nightmare on Elm Street was when he admited he hadn’t seen it.
Anyway, Iron Man 2 is going to be a film about Tony Stark. I KNOW that’s accurate. I hope…

Not all the evidence. It is a Marvel sequel, after all.
He must be the opinion police.

.. I see what you did there…
I, being from the UK, have seen the movie and can comfirm that it does indeed rock. Is that citation enough for you mr. mustache man?
That face… It’s so familiar… I guess it’s time to scroll through the archives looking for him.
So did Mike hire that guy to do that, or is it just a happy coincidence?

Dude.
Iron Man 2 has AC/DC on the sound track. Iron Man 2 “Rocking So Hard” is a fact!!!
So, it seems I’ve been parodied on Shortpacked. I’m kinda honored.
Now off to be pedantic somewhere….
Duncan, Groucho Marx (oh, do tell me his name is Marco Grouch or some variation thereof), AND a niggling semantic fanboy argument?
Willis, you’re too good to me.
I saw Iron Man 2 last Sunday and it rocks, but softly, not so hard.
Having already seen Iron Man 2, I’d say it rocks, but not as much as the first one.

i really like mike’s invisible watch

Whiplash is so awesome (even more than Batman) that he knew what Tony would do before he even decide it.
What a relief. Shortpacked fans say that Iron Man 2 Rocks. The intensity of that rocking, however, is still up for debate.
I shall bring my popcorn.
And salt.
Okay, this didn’t happen the first time I read this strip, but reading back over it now, I can’t get Flanders’ voice out of my head.
Well why don’t you shut up, Mr. Random-guy-with-a-weird-mustache!
