     She did hit him, that’s not exactly insignificant. I’m glad she’s feeling guilty, I hate when domestic abuse is played for laughs.

     Besides, as a child of abuse she must be terrified of her own actions.

     No, no, Amber’s right, Mike deserves better. There’s no way she’s capable of inflicting the beating he so obviously deserves; she’d need at least a turbo V10 and a tandem axle, although a V12 and link treads would really be more realistic.

     Poor Jacob; he’s just trying to be decent, but it’s hard when you’re the only normal person within a ten minute walk.

    I understand what Amber is talking about. She did to her loved one, what her father did to his wife and to her. She’s freaked out, because she’s become what she hates. I’d say that Mike deserves what he got, because apparently he wanted it. Amber however, despite her behavior, she doesn’t deserve to relive the cycles of violence that was inflicted on her.

    This story took a darker tone than I expected that’s for sure.

      Hitting someone once doesn’t mark you for the rest of your life, basically as Dawnieangel76 said. And Mike did a crap load more than Amber did where violence is concerned. And Mike isn’t too upset about being smacked anyway– he was pretty turned on by it in the creepiest way… XD

    If there’s anything that aggravates me MORE than using past abuse as a reason for your current actions, I haven’t yet figured it out.

    I was abused by my stepfather for 20 years; not ONCE have I lifted my own hand in anger towards ANYONE, unless it was in self-defense. If you don’t WANT to be like your abuser, you WON’T be.

    Using it as an excuse for every dumb thing you do in your life is a crock.

    I think out of everyone there, I feel sorry for Jacob the most. I used to have some sympathy for Amber, but not anymore.

      I have sympathy for Amber. She has basically been shit on her whole life, and still has extremely low self esteem. Believe me, I can sympathize and empathize with that. So, she finally decides to stick up for herself and be more assertive, something that is completely alien to her, and she doesn’t know how to do it without being a bitch sometimes. That, to me, is perfectly understandable. If it were real life, her friends should sit her down and explain the difference between being strong, and being a bitch, and try to help her to know the difference. Of course, in the strip, they don’t, which makes for more drama. I know exactly what Amber is going through, minus the parental abuse. I got mine from other sources, mostly my peers. She is the sympathetic one here.
