I enjoy how many people took away from this comic that I (the cartoonist) hate Transformers Animated. I’ve deleted some of the more, um, embarrassing examples of this from the comments, but, damn.

To be fair–the opening sequence for the Japanese dub of Transformers Animated -is- actually a lot cooler than the original US one. But they did get JAM Project to do the music. So.
Full stop. What. JAM PROJECT. I MUST FIND THIS NOW.
I can barely prevent myself from vomiting every time I see any of the Transformers from that ‘Animated’ trash.
And don’t get me started on the use of the word Animated.
I gotta agree. It’s pretty lame.
I like Animated. So there :-p
yeah, they blew up Detroit, repeatedly.
*punches Duncan* What the hell is wrong with Teen Titans, *bleep*?! I loved that show.
Definitely agreed. It had wonderfully subtle references to the characters’ comic backgrounds that I could enjoy because I’m a dork…
Teen Titans was a great cartoon. I enjoyed it so much I have all five seasons.
A lot of people I know who hated it, did so because of the anime-esque art style. But personally I loved the blend of anime and western animation.
It’s sad it ended after only 65 episodes. But then again it was good they didn’t drag it our longer then it needed to be and ruined it.
And it features the voice of the amazing Tara Strong. How can you *not* like something she works on?
And the little girl from Growing Pains was Terra.
Terra. <3
I know! That show was awesome!
Though I was always sad Starfire didn’t get her own season arc like the rest. Still, it was one of my favorite shows growing up!
So, you hate characters like this? <
Isn’t that the ones where the Transformers have animated mouths? If that is the one, (and i have seen snippets of it) it looks terrible. Autobots and Decepticons are not supposed to have moveable lips. Hell, they’re not even supposed to have lips!
I do like Anime, but they could have animated them better than that.
Let me ammend that to say, they shouldn’t have mouths that look fleshy.
So Transformers shouldn’t look like 100% of Transformers cartoons. Got it!
Yyyyeah, what Willis said. >_> Outside of the robots that had mouths like Soundwave or Optimus, their mouths moved like normal human mouths would.
I’m just not following where this is leading.
The Japanese dub was cut down from the full version broadcast in the US. I don’t generally like Japanese dubs, actually, because they deviate too far from what I can understand and relate to.
Also, Japanese Airazor.
Is this the show where that kid turns out to be a robot? What the hell was up with that
Geez, so much TFA hate >_>
That show rocks. I seriously don’t see any reason that anyone could ever hate it.
My friends and I used to have an in-joke about that show, calling it “Transformers, (Barely) Animated.” We thought it was hilarious that they actually had mouths. Pretty much the only reason we watched it.
Sooooo, if it’s not in Japan, the show sucks? Is that what our resident strawman is claiming?
It’s one thing to enjoy Japanese stuff, and it’s another to believe that anything that isn’t released in Japan is automatically objectively terrible. There are definitely real people who do the latter. I’ve known a few, and dated one. He was not very self-aware.
WHY DOES THIS GUY ALWAYS SEEK OUT ETHAN?!
Ethan is the closest thing this guy has to a best friend
I really did like Animated, though the title still bugs me.
Of course it’s animated. All the Transformers cartoons have been animated. That’s what makes them cartoons.
Okay, I get that it’s to differentiate it from the live action movies (though as CGI the Transformers themselves were still animated), but the movie franchise and show were no more than tangentially related. Did they think we’d see the cartoon and mistake it for the movies somehow?
Still, great show.
Possibly the most ironic comment I’ve ever heard is DUNCAN saying “Takara wouldn’t lead us wrong.”
