Those Super Mario PVC figurines that both Amber and I enjoy changed corporate hands, like, years ago, and finally the new company put out some new product that I care about. It’s still not a new tooling or something, and it’s, well, Yoshi repaints, but it’s new! It’s neeeeeewww!
So I found this “limited edition” three-pack of Yoshis at Toys “R” Us the other day. Randomly. So if you need more Yoshis, I point you in their direction.
Man, what my Super Mario display really needed was more heroes versus more villains, certainly. Oh well.

But then the Blue one would feel left out since he’s the wrong color. Ah, the eternal struggle between the primary-colored yoshis of Super Mario World vs the pastel yoshis of Yoshi’s Island.

Yeah, I was wondering if those pastel Yoshi had powers like the Red, Yellow, and Blue. Perhaps the Pink grants a mushroom-up everytime it eats a koopa shell or something. Or maybe the four Yoshi that Bowser imprisoned were the superheroes of Dinosaur World, and no other Yoshi have such abilities.
In Yoshi Story you could pick one of 8 different colored Yoshis (such as the pink one) and they had different favorite fruits (you collected fruits, so it did affect gameplay somewhat). I don’t think they had different abilities beyond that.
I think in Yoshi’s Island the different abilities were based on which baby rider you had rather than which Yoshi, but it’s been awhile since I’ve played.
I will not be happy until I have a SPINY!
I may have once seen a romhack where a boss was a monster made from four Yoshis, seeking vengeance for being thrown into pits
I am sure they can stand in as villains
I have the first one of these that came out like forever ago still sitting on my desk… maybe I should go buy him some friends or something…
