Huh, kind of neat. Human characters aren’t doing it for me, but the bots are refreshingly not what I expected. There’s not too much of a movie vibe in here except for ‘bee and Prime.
Surprised how much I like these. Even the brief animated clip was pretty darn cool. Wish they’d shown more and hope the writing is as good as the designs.
Animated and Movie I get, but where do you see G1 in those designs?
Other than being the basis from which both animated and the movie drew their inspiration I mean.
The designs look good, I am excited to see what they do with the show. Animated is a tough act to follow…
I wish they showed off Starscream. I hope when they do show him he looks like the Transformers: Hero design they showed in the Allspark Almanac. That jet mode was sexy and the robot mode was a nice cross between Armada and G1.
You should be suspicious. If we’re not careful, we’ll wake up one morning and find that we’re all hispanic. Look at Animated! I watched that for a couple of years and then I suddenly became Indian. The worst thing that ever happened when I watched G1 was that I wore a yellow hat all the time.
So? What’s wrong with that? Can you tell me how that harms you, having a kid with a Hispanic name on the show? Is the experience going to be ANY different? And if not, who cares? In what circumstance, please tell me, is it OKAY to have a Hispanic in a cartoon?
Frankly, having a show full of entirely WASPY white dudes in this day and age is friggin’ embarrassing.
Yeah, given the claim of ‘political correctness’, I kinda hafta think the character being potentially stereotypical (which concern is significantly allayed by the actual character design, anyway) is the issue.
They’re not trying to be politically correct, they’re trying to sell toys.
Kids are more likely to watch the half hour commercial, I mean, cartoon, if there is a character they can identify with, so the cartoon has a ratially diverse human cast- we’ve got a white male, a hispanic male, and an asian female – and this upsets you? What, are only White, Anglo-Saxon Prodestant Males allowed to enjoy / but transformers where you come from?

It looks all fairly video-gamey.

Interesting designs. Like ‘Jumper’s horns…but no alt mode for Ratchet?
All right! Ratchet is an Action Master now.
So the humans are in CG too. Good. It’s hard to mesh cel and CG. Unless you are Iron Giant.
Yay, Cliffjumper who is his own mold!
Not only is he not a repaint of Bumblebee, he’s a badass Dodge Challenger. Sweet.
Arcee looks great, but was kinda not expecting the TFA style slouchy neck.
I hope the give Rafael a pair of Nunchaku at some point. That would be magnificent.
Hope that wasn’t a TMNT reference, because Raphael used sais.
You’re thinking of Michelangelo. Raphael had the sais.
So basically, these designs are half movie/half Animated?
Jack Darby? Jack Darby?!?! That’s SOOOOO not a TF human buddy name. Not NEARLY crazy enough. He needs to be called Jac D’arbay, at the very least.
Maybe we’ll call him “Demolition” Darby.
Damn, I was seriously hoping that this might be a continuation of Animated.
These look great, can’t wait for the toyli-oh….
Arcee isn’t pink? What madness is this?!
I dig the Prime designs. They’ve got a sort of feel like they’re the good bits of G1+Animated+Movie stuck in a blender.
Animated and Movie I get, but where do you see G1 in those designs?

They’re chunkier designs than the movies – more hidden behind plating. And Prime is red with blue legs.
What’s this now? Explanations are in order!
…Or I could just go check the wiki.
I really hope Hasbro is lying about not making toys to go with this show. I want that Cliffjumper as a figure.
Damn, Optimus Prime needs to eat a sandwich or something.
What the hell is Megatron’s altmode? The Nebuchadnezzar from “The Matrix”?
I think he needs more than a sandwich. Perhaps the entire Subway counter. Or three.
I wish they showed off Starscream. I hope when they do show him he looks like the Transformers: Hero design they showed in the Allspark Almanac. That jet mode was sexy and the robot mode was a nice cross between Armada and G1.
cannon fodder and hispanic main character. Looks like a by the books show.
Can’t shows just have Hispanics in them?
Sure, but they don’t.
So unless the cast is 100% non-Hispanic white, it’s suspicious. That’s pretty awesome. I love this xenophobic culture.
I’m not prejudiced against hispanics, I’m prejudiced against TV executives’ motives and reasoning.
So what crime is perpetrated against you when TV executives decide to use Hispanics in their cartoon shows? What exactly are you losing?
You should be suspicious. If we’re not careful, we’ll wake up one morning and find that we’re all hispanic. Look at Animated! I watched that for a couple of years and then I suddenly became Indian. The worst thing that ever happened when I watched G1 was that I wore a yellow hat all the time.
They’re trying to be politically correct, not actually help anyone.

“So what crime is perpetrated against you when TV executives decide to use Hispanics in their cartoon shows? ”
Racist stereotyping?
I could see that being his(?) concern.
[/devilsadvocate]
I have a feeling that’s not it.
Yeah, given the claim of ‘political correctness’, I kinda hafta think the character being potentially stereotypical (which concern is significantly allayed by the actual character design, anyway) is the issue.
Oh, slaggit. ISN’T the issue. ISN’T. I hate typos like that.
They’re not trying to be politically correct, they’re trying to sell toys.

I mean enjoy / buy, obviously.
Did NOT notice the other kids. I’m gonna go ahead and take a mulligan here. (Let’s face it, Carlos Lopez just left a taste in everyone’s mouth)
For the record, if the show took place in Detroit, for example, I’d be pretty upset unless all the characters were black.
The Decepticon troopers as car is a pretty boring idea.
Beyond that… not much else to add that wasn’t mentionned.
Bitchin’ car, though. And I wouldn’t be surprised if there are other types of troopers eventually as well.
These designs look terrible. None of the characters feel right.
Really rounded and strangely organic designs… I dunno if I like it or not.
I’m getting kind of a Bleedman vibe from the human characters. I dunno…
Hmmm. You’re right. Not sure what to think about that.
I like the look of Megatron.
