You know it’s been a lull in Transformers purchases when the previous batch has already started breaking in the interim.
I was just transforming him out of tank mode! I noticed Bludgeon on the shelf in tank mode next to the television and he looked like he needed to be fiddled with. So I start pulling his hands out of his forearms and… oh no.
Well, that won’t do. And Bludgeon is one of my favorites! And he has to be able to hold swords, so gluing the fingers back on and leaving it the hell alone is not the answer. So he must be replaced. Immediately.
My mail-in Recon Ravage came with a $5 off coupon, so I ran over to Walmart this morning. Thankfully, Bludgeon’s still plentiful. If this happened a few months or a few years from now, I’d be in trouble! The coupon says $5 off any Transformers purchase of $20 or more, which must include sales tax, because this Bludgeon started at a sale price of $19.97 and it still worked.
Let my misfortune serve as a cautionary tale to others. Be careful with your Bludgeon hands! Don’t shove that sword in. Of course, you kinda have to shove it in, because it’s a tight grip.
So, basically, you’re screwed.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Or your cashier simply didn’t notice.
This was self-checkout. I scanned the coupon, it worked.
So, your cashier noticed, but didn’t care.
As stated, I thought it worked because of the sales tax. I’ve worked years at a cash register. If the coupon doesn’t want it to scan, then it won’t scan. I honestly thought it wouldn’t work when I tried it.
Poor Blugeon.
You know, I don’t think I’ve broken any of my toys, even though they’re just chucked into a box. I lost a couple of pieces when I brought them to school (Transmetal Waspinator being the most) but yeah, they’re all intact.
Wow, Bludgeon is plentiful by you? I haven’t seen any of him for four months…and that was the first time I saw him.
So, what’s the problem with just gluing the hand back together?
It’s gonna break again every time I put the sword back in?
Actually, it depends how you go about gluing the hand back together. First, stay the hell away from superglue or standard plastic glue. What you want it two part epoxy. Use as instructed. However, for that ‘holy shit thing thing’ll never come apart’ effect, you need to pin the broken piece in place. WTF? Simply put, go to a hobby store and get yourself a manual pin-vice. Get a drill bit that’s about the diameter of a paperclip and of course, a paper clip. Drill a hole into the broken piece (deep enough for the paperclip to be solid but not so deep it comes out the other side) and glue a straight portion of the paper clip in that hole (superglue is okay for that. It’s just to hold it). Cut the paperclip sticking out so you have maybe a quarter inch of it still sticking out of the hole. Drill a hole in the opposite piece EXACTLY where you’ll need to insert the paperclip to put the pieces together. Drill about a quarter inch in. If you can’t without going through the piece then go as deep as you can and trim the paper clip. Glue the pieces together with epoxy, inserting the pin from the broken piece into the opposite piece. Let it rest about 24 hrs. Don’t use too much epoxy.
There, you just saved 20$ and a coupon.
Seriously – somebody at Haskara didn’t bother to check if the hand was wide enough to comfortably hold the weapons he comes with. They’re just a hair too tight for easily attach and remove the weapons. Not only that, the hands are made from the same hard orange plastic seem on the rest of the toy, rather than a more flexible unpaintable plastic.
Assuming you haven’t tossed out your old Bludgeon, you might want to consider trying to mess with the extra sword. Shave the handle down a bit so it fits better in the toy’s hand.
If you screw it up, it isn’t a loss, because you have an entirely new sword.
Glue a gun in there, then repaint him into a Shockwave.
Glad i’m a ‘leave on the shelf and never transform them again’ kinda collector…
I’m always worried about his hands! The swords never wanna get in/out of them! The only notable breaks in recent purchases I’ve had were Classic Acid Storm (wing broke off) and 1st movie Longarm (black hinge at shoulder broke)
BTW, this time last year I was excited about the Legend Devastator set.
Where the fuck are they?? They never came here….
Your all lucky gits we havent had bludgeon at all in the uk as far as i can tell
And we aren’t getting it either according to Hasbro UK
Coupon works with ANY Hasbro purchase.
They just want you to use the honer system. Which you did not. For shame.
Bludgeon has a design flaw!?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Mine wouldn’t stay together in robot mode… the torso didn’t hold together properly. Wound up exchanging it, haven’t opened the box yet on the new one. Hopefully it’s problem-free.
Nice Scrubs reference, sir.
Can you not just X-Acto the swords a little to make them fit better?
If you use the right kind of glue (full disclosure: I cannot at the moment remember what that glue is) on hard plastic hands, it’s juuuuust flexible enough to allow weapons to be handled without falling apart or breaking again. My G.I. Joes lost a few thumbs in the ’80s, and whatever I used lasted for nearly twenty years before crackling off. I’m-a need to hurry up and remember what that glue is, because I can already tell I’m going to need it eventually for Arcee.
…In case anyone was wondering, Arcee/CybertronRatchets are in fact still dribbling into TRUs. At least to TRU-Geoffrey’s in the Austin area, at any rate.
I think this is beyond the means of any flexible glue – the grip is RIDICULOUSLY TIGHT. Vice-like, clamping grip.
And having 2 Bludgeons, you don’t even need to carve up the good weapon to do that.
Eeeek! I will have to be super careful as the Bludgeon on my shelf is the only one I have laid eyes on in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve had him just over a week and he is one of my favourite ever Transformers toys.
Now I fear for my Bludgeon. Please send cookies!
So, what’re you going to do with the other Bludgeon? Repaint? Kitbash with awesome sword hand?
I feel your pain, I was just transforming my SWTF Chewbaca, I pulled the legs out and CRACK, the whole lower leg goes flying to the floor. Poor Chewbaca suffers from brown plastic syndrome. Very disappointing. At least the one I was transforming was an extra one for a future bash and I still have a good one in Falcon mode sitting with the rest of my collection.
Kinda surprised to have a SWTF figure lose a leg. Would have thought that they would lose hands/arms considering Lucas’ obsession with severed hands.
I shaved down the thumbs on my Bludgeon a titch, months ago. Doesn’t effect the look significantly, probably effects the service life.
And SWTF Falcon has bad plastic syndrome?? Say it ain’t so! That was one of the two good molds in that line!
How can I be screwed, I’ve got an extra MIB waiting in the wings for any reason !!!
**sticking tongue out at you**
So now you’re doing horror comics? This scares the shit out of me.
I find that his sword refuses to stay straight if it’s in his hip loop, as if that itself is crooked, and the soft handles seem like they’ll get pinched if left in the hands for that matter…
i’d like to know how often anyone actually gets sued for unsafe transformers because some kid poked his eye..
It’s your lucky day. Bludgeon is on sale at hasbrotoyshop.com:

I would say Bludgeon just needs a new sword!

Dude. You keep breakin’ stuff, mom won’t let you come over and play no more.
MISTER SMEGGERS. I CU THAR.
If only you’d had a 3d printer! You could have printed yourself up a replacement hand!
Or designed a whole new transformer, like this guy did : http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2865
