So the Machine of Death book which I plugged yesterday did super well. An awesome little anthology book put together by a bunch of webcomics made it to #1 on Amazon.com’s bestseller’s list. Oh my lord! Super great, right?
Well, whoops, it knocked poor Glenn Beck’s book off of the #1 spot for a day. And this enraged poor Mr. Beck. He called out the book on his program today for usurping his greatneass and denegrated it part of the “culture of death.”
So I think we need to all buy second copies.

The idea of Glenn Beck, trader in the rhetoric of violence and inspiration for a would-be mass-murderer, denigrating anyone as part of a “culture of death” is irony in its purest and most complete form.
I wasn’t planning on buying this book, but then you give me a chance to piss off Glenn Beck? I’M THERE. Book is BOUGHT.
Mmm…angry asshole. always good
First Dinobot, now this? Maybe you got some superpowers of suggestion, cause I have a burning desire to buy Hubcap.
Christ, if I had more money, I’d buy forty copies.
I wonder how much of Beck’s sales are the result of small numbers of his Antimerican Mammonite followers buying hundreds of copies each, like the way Scientologists used to artificially keep L. Ron’s gaspingly awful sciffy novels on the best seller lists.
Thank you, Mr. Beck. Now I really have no excuse not to buy a copy.
Paperback? What century are you living in? I mean, if you want to sell an anthology like this via “the internets”, why *the fuck* is this not available as an ebook too?
It will be very soon, they’re just finishing it up! If you buy a paper copy they’ll give you the ebook for free, too.
“I put a sample of this tree’s bark into the machine, and it said ‘Machine of Death’. Weird.”
Please, please tell me that part of his rant included, “Now, I have never READ a book… I mean, THIS book, but…”
I was turning on the DVR to watch some Doctor Who, and I flipped through Fox News just as Beck was on, and I heard that. It took me about five seconds to get it, then a big grin spread over my face.
Did he cry? It’s just not Glenn Beck if he ain’t crying.
I’m in the minority here, I guess, in that I don’t normally mind Glenn Beck, but yeah, he occasionally gets things messed up. You’d think he’d want to support the “little guys” such as web comic publishers.
Occasionally gets things messed up? He’s a psycho who tried to run down a rival radio host back in the day and he spends every program ranting and spreading hate and fear. Honestly, anyone who “doesn’t mind” Glenn Beck is probably a little fucked up in the head.
Careful– if you’re “in the minority”, Beck automatically hates you by default.
PROTIP: Beck doesn’t actually support “little guys”.
Awesome.
If Glenn Beck hates you, you must be doing something right
