Baffled by my age group’s love of Beast Wars are we? XD

I’ve gotta get myself to a convention so I can meet you. Damn my broke-ness!

I doubt he’s baffled by the BW love, as Walky, like all right thinking folks, is a big fan of it as well. I think it’s more the love for Cheetor in particular that’s a bit odd. Despite what Hasbro imagines at times, he’s not exactly a fan-favorite from that show.

He’s not a fan-favorite in OUR demographic. Because, you know, we were in college at the time. We were too cool and adult for the kid appeal character.

“Despite what Hasbro imagines…” Dude, they didn’t put out a buttload of Cheetor toys back then for their health. They continued to put out Cheetors because he kept selling out. And to whom? The kids who watched Beast Wars then who are young adults now.

The original Cheetor was released three times with three different eye colors not because Hasbro was crazy, unless you mean crazy like a fox. A rich fox.

Yeah. Since he was the kid-appeal character, practically all us kids loved him. Most of the people I talk to say that he was their favourite. Hell, he’s still my mom’s favourite.

Perhaps I just don’t listen in the right places. I’ve just never heard anyone really express much affection for Cheetor, even among younger fans. I don’t hate him or anything, he’s ok, just never seen the level of popularity expressed for him that I tend to see pretty constantly for Ratrap or Dinobot or even Rhinox. It could be just a demographic thing I guess, if we’re talking kinda a “outside the fandom” ish feeling. I’ve just honestly never seen any fans of any age group say they care that much about Spots. Certainly possible I’ve just missed the love.

That probably is the case. I live in a hole-in-the-wall, so the amount of people I can discuss it with is limited. When it comes to those outside the fandom, Dinobot is almost never remembered, but Cheetor and Rattrap are, and everyone else usually gets an “Oh yeah, them”. As for those who are avid fans, I must admit Dinobot’s at the top of their lists, and Cheetor’s towards the bottom.

Now I’ve thoroughly confused myself. @_@

      Rhinox? Who loves Rhinox?

(Semi-serious question…I didn’t know anyone else into TFs when the Beast era was running, and most of the TF fans I hang around with now are G1/Animated/Movie more than Beast era…so I don’t really know Beast era fans, but Rhinox isn’t the one who gets mentioned when the Beast era comes up – Dinobot, Primal, Rattrap, Megs, Inferno, Waspinator, and, of course, Blackarachnia, yes. Rhinox, no.)

I love Rhinox. Rhinox was Zen BA Baracus.

The real question is how anyone can resist your drawing of Cheetor. That Cheetah head on his chest is just to freakin adorable. Makes me want to throw up, but in a good, just ate an entire can of frosting, way.
