Masterpiece Rodimus Prime was revealed (in color) at this weekend’s C3X Hobby in Japan. Okay, woo, so he transforms from Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime to Hot Rod’s car to Rodimus Prime’s truck, which is sort of neat, I guess, if you like awesome things. But it all pales in comparison to him finally being the right color.
Oh, yes, he’s magenta, folks.
He’s gonna be about $200 to import, so I think I’m going to pass on him. I do that kind of money for Grimlock, but not Hot Rod. If he comes out in the states, I’ll probably pick him up, but there’s no promises that he’ll remain that purply color, so it’s a bittersweet decision. Though, as I was reminded by AllSpark dude Powered Convoy, a large-ass Rodimus toy would go perfect in a Wreckers display. Now that’s tempting!
Yeah he looks awesome, even though I’ve never likes Rodimus (Okay with Hot Rod though). If he sows up in the States he shall be mine, but if not, meh, I can do without him.
Well, for one thing, I hear the Matrix of Leadership chafes.

I’m gonna wait too. Considering that all but Megatron has shown up over here (and that one was due to understandable reasons)… I have faith Rodimus will pop up here too. Especially since next year is the 25th anniversary of the animated movie.
In the past you said you had no intention of importing USB Ravage, no intention of importing Masterpiece Grimlock (before he got his King Grimlock redeco), and now you’re saying the same thing about Rodimus.

I feel so conflicted about Masterpiece Rodimus. On one hand, i hate the character. On the other, i’ve always liked his toys, the Hot Rod to Rodimus conversion is nice, but then the Hot Rod vehicle mode for this toy looks… wrong. Something also doesn’t seem right about his chestpiece. At least he actually has the bottom half of his torso though, unlike the Animated version.
So with this TNI comic, do we have to add a “Matrix Bearers” category to Walkypedia now?

Man, Hot Rod’s Marvel colors were friggin’ terrible.
I’m gonna buy one to display as Hot Rod, one to display as Rodimus Prime, and one to display as Spider-Man.
I haven’t totally figured out how I’m going to pull that last one off yet.

Totally gonna have to pick that up (I am one of the three people in the US who actually preferred Rodimus, I think). Now if only he had a Matrix compartment.
I like Hot Rod, but the best Prime in my opinion is Nova, cuz’ he turned evil and used Thunderwing.

So far, BBTS says that the $200 tag is just a placeholder until they find out how much it really is. They anticipate it being cheaper. I can dig $150.
$170 is the Japanese retail price, so I wouldn’t expect $150 from BBTS.

Where do you see him in magenta? He looks exactly the same as his original toy colors in the pictures from the link you posted…(if were actually magenta, I would have to own this).
The Masterpiece definitely isn’t in the original toy colors.
