I’m gonna be in AnimeFest 2010 in Dallas this weekend! (so nice I typed it twice) I’ve never exhibited my exotic wares in Texas before, so this should be a blast. And, hey, I have some panels up my sleeves!

Sunday September 5 @ 2:00pm – Shortpacked! The Panel!
- Shortpacked! (by David Willis) is everyone’s favorite webcomic about folks who work in a toy store and tell jokes about Batman. Pick David’s brain about the strip, his overabundant knowledge of Transformers, or shoot the breeze about your favorite Taco Bell combo meals. David’s debuting a brand new webcomic next week which he’s been exceedingly coy about, so here’s your chance to ask everything you wanted to know about this Super Secret Project and see how that lines up with what he’s willing to answer.

Since AnimeFest is Labor Day Weekend, it runs Friday through Monday! That’s a lotta days of being my best friend in the world. If you show up and say hi to me at my table or at any of my panels, you automatically get a free preview souvenir bookmark of something special you’ll see real soon.

I would like to attend, but alas, I work on the weekends.
AnimeFest is also open on Monday! Though I guess some horrible evil people make their employees work on Labor Day. And some self-employed folks (coughcoughcartoonistscoughcough) choose to anyway, because why not I guess, it’s not like we have schedules….
Hmmmm Monday is different! School at night, nothing during the day.. perhaps my desire for a sketch of Batman punching Hotshot will happen afterall..
I’m really hoping I can go but it’s not looking good.
Can I bribe you with cake to come to Austin? <3
If it’s a matter of transportation, hit up Dragon’s Lair and Austin Books and ask around, you’re sure to find someone headed up Thursday or Friday who’d give you a ride. I can’t help much myself unless you’re okay with being strapped to the top of an overloaded pickup, but at least one of the DL staff is going and might know someone else who is as well.
If it’s a matter of scheduling, you can always find a better job when you get back. Seriously, screw those jerks. (I quit a job once because they insisted I miss AnimeFest)
…She’s right, though, Willis- you should totally pull some free time out of thin air to come to STAPLE! in March.
With all these conventions you’re going to lately, how come you couldn’t make it to Wizard World Chicago 2 weekends ago? I was hoping you’d be there so I could shake your hand and maybe get some swag!
I didn’t know you were a webcomic.
–oh, shit. Webcomics can make other webcomics now. They don’t need us anymore. Humanity is fucked.
Two Lumps is apparently written and drawn by Two Lumps.
Sunday at 2…i’m there! You’d better be ready to spill some secrets Willis
I have a slideshow presentation.
Alex and I may come, or I may come alone, or I may not be able to make it. It depends on how the rest of my family will handle it.
At age 6, Alex’s AnimeFest “membership” will be complimentary, but mine will be pricey enough… still, _David_Freakin’_Willis_ will be at AnimeFest, and I’d feel like a complete toenail if all I could say was, “Ever since I started reading Shortpacked! I always wanted to meet you, shake your hand, and thank you for all the laughs you’ve provided, but the one time you happened to make it down to Texas I couldn’t scrape up the $30 it took to get in the door to see you.”
I can’t imagine a better opportunity for me and Alex to both wear Transformers shirts.
