Unless your videos are getting thousands of views, your “monthly paycheck” will turn out to be a few cents a month. Also, most successful “youtubers” sell t-shirts and junk on top of their regular advertising income.

Actually, youtube has a set up now that you can apply for partner, like Machinema has, or EA games, and ads are placed on your vids and your channel, and you get payed a percent of the profit. I don’t know exactly what generates profit besides ads, but you get a monthly check. You can pretty much work on youtube for a living (depending on how much you really get, cuz idk)

exacty, youtube gives you exposure, exposure gives you fans, fans gives you the chance to make your own website about vids, the vids get attention when fans give you praise and subscribe to your vids, ad companies see this attention and want in on your fan base so they give you money. Your fans buy that merch and a portion of that money goes to you which encourages more sponsors. In short, youtube is free but using it can make you a Bajillion dollars.
