   I imagine he was going to actually make a reference to what specifically he hated, but he decided it was more expediant to conserve his breath and energy by just ending where he did.

   And, I think the look of “confusion” is more a look of “I’m trying to see something stuck where my eyebrow would be if I had eyebrows”.
