Actually yes! They totally have! Not the main news guys though. Some of their primetime shows do it, for humor value when a story is particularly stupid.
The Rachel Maddow Show for instance, has used sock puppets before as a gag, as well as photo portraits taped to sticks. I think Olberman used to occasionally do the same.
This is not terribly surprising if you’ve actually watched those shows, as they’re at least half goofy humor and cheerfully-delivered snark (well, cheerful if it’s Maddow. Olberman used to get a lot pissier sometimes, depending on the subject).
In fact, when they got to the sock puppets… honestly, I literally LOL’d. BECAUSE IT IS ACTUALLY TRUE.
Wait… I thought Galasso now owned Toys R Us?
Nah he decided he’d rather use the nickel to buy your mom.
Hey! His mom costs at least a dime.
Well, for the premium stuff. Otherwise it’s still a nickel.
No, a dime is the standard fare. Mike just gets a 50% discount.
Wait, was MSNBC actually using sock puppets at one point?
Facepalm.

Is that Duncan in the first panel?
