Funky Winkerbean and For Better Or For Worse weren’t mocked for mixing comedy and drama, they were mocked for mixing bad comedy with bad drama.

While I’m not bothered by the fact that there’s some drama interspersed into the comic, mostly because it’s self-aware, there is a bit of hypocrisy present in the strips that mock other comics for the same. Don’t get me wrong, I laughed my ass off at Funky Cancercancer, but to call those comics out on it seems a bit unfair. But I suppose when you’re a comic author, you have such privileges.
