This is the comic that made John Solomon start reading Shortpacked, and his initial post in YWIBAYSFB is what got me reading Shortpacked, and everything else David Willis has done.

That said, “Let me cry Daddy” is pretty damned pretentious. Sorry.

Pretentious, maybe. But it’s the kind of writing that makes this and the other Willis comics worth reading again, and again. Sure the zany antics are funny, but the heart is what’s memorable.

Yes, a good artist is one who cannot only make you feel one feeling, but also its opposite. Willis has proven that he can make us happy and sad though batman jokes and tragedies that hit too close to home. I salute you Willis!

What I love about this comic is the the punchline is the change to the word denoting the end.

I would assume considering what little was dropped about her dad was that he was the type that would’ve beat the shit out of her for crying. so… let me cry daddy would be one of the saddest things ever… not pretentious, you jerk.

Soooo… “Fin” is too pretentious, but “Let me cry, Daddy” isn’t?

Poor Amber. Kind of wish Robin didn’t move out so she can comfort her.
