I’m guessing judging by the Mother’s reaction and that it’s Mike’s mind that the kids are probably dead. Ethan, I’m not sure, I’m quite sure Mike would be just as happy with him being maimed.
Consider Mike’s personality for a moment and I think it’ll make a lot more sense. Mike would much rather gloat over someone’s suffering than simply kill them.
From the second cell of the comic, I think it can be assumed that Mike did all of that just to make Ethan spill his bowl of something. In Mike’s dream, I think Ethan is just so upset that he spilled his bowl’s contents (and probably hurting quite a lot, too) that he just lies, amidst the burning wreckage, mourning his overturned bowl.
Wait did Ethen die? Or did he just spill his bowl of what ever it is in there?
